Aug 29 2008'Voltron' Being Directed by Some Dude

The concept of five space-age teenagers piloting mechanical lions, which can join together to form a large robot man with a sword, is too solid to let die. Last week, Relativity Media recognized that, and announced plans to back a Hollywood adaptation of Voltron, to be made on a reasonable budget by using a lot of green screens and computers. Now the company has found their director: Max Makowski. Who? This guy:

Max's credits include the movies The Pigeon Egg Strategy (premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 1998), One Last Dance (premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and went on to Cannes), and television series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (2003) and The Agency (2005). He is also working on writing and directing a Universal film based on the Japanese movie Shinobi, a Studio Canal film based on Le Professionnel, and he has rewritten the screenplay for the bigscreen version of Hawaii Five-O. Max also will direct the bigscreen adaptation of the 1970s TV series Kung Fu which revolved around a Shaolin monk forced to flee to the Wild West, where he used his martial arts skills to fend off various evildoers.

Well, since he hasn't directed any Mummy movies or video game adaptations, he's already better than most of the directors I figured they'd give this project to--plus, he's got gay-stereotype-reinforcing makeover reality TV experience, which always helps in a giant robot battle movie. I'm willing to give him a shot. Why not, right?

Now let's move on to who's going to direct the inevitable Silverhawks movie. Don't act like you aren't making one, Hollywood. I remember it as a child, so you must be.

Hey I Watch Stuff Guy,
I know this isn't related, but I just found out August 14, 2009 is the release date for a movie I'm sure you will love!! Final Destination 4!!! AMIRITE????
lol
have fun making fun of it.

From the director of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy... Voltron? Really??

In the thrilling final minutes, Blue Lion manages to get Black Lion to disengage from Red Lion long enough to form the mighty robot and vanquish the enemy.

Holy. Hell.
You really did that didn't you. Silverhawks. Sweet monkey jesus you did that.
I don't know what i'm more surprised about here, that you actually remember Silverhawks, or that i somehow forgot about Silverhawks... Now that the memories have come flooding back though i now fully understand my bizarre chrome fetish...
That combined with the complete lack of Michael Bay getting anywhere near a voltron movie. Damn this is the best belated birthday present ever!

Well, I guess Voltron is getting a make-over, then.
