Aug 8 2008'Superbad'/'Pineapple Express' Crossover Movie? Really?
Freddy and Jason, Alien and Predator, that time Urkel was on Step by Step: if there's one thing audiences will tolerate, it's pointless crossovers. So how about a Pineapple Express/Superbad crossover, even though Seth Rogen is in both films playing different roles, which would probably lead to some kind of confusing, Tommy Westphall-style paradox? Well, regardless, James Franco says it might be happening. From MTV:
Even before ‘Superbad’ came out, I think the studio was trying to get [Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg] to write a sequel, but they really didn’t want to write a sequel. I guess the kids would go to college or something like that [that was the studio's idea],” Franco said. “And so, an answer to that was to do a ‘Superbad’/'Pineapple Express’ crossover, an unprecedented crossover movie with two directors, Greg Motolla and David Gordon Green, each directing half of the movie and somehow these characters get together, which doesn’t make sense at all, but could work.”
I have to agree that this doesn't make sense at all, but, yeah, it could work--especially if they follow the example of crossovers that worked in the past. Because Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen definitely read this blog, I've helpfully made a list of the top five crossovers of all time. Study these, guys, and you can do no wrong. Thank me later.
1. Scooby Doo and The Addams Family
2. Scooby Doo and Batman & Robin
3. Scooby Doo and The Harlem Globetrotters
4. Scooby Doo and The Three Stooges
5. Scooby Doo and Laurel & Hardy
Just look how seamlessly they're integrated:
I swear, seeing that, it's like Batman was created just to team up with a talking cartoon dog and his high friend. So natural. Are you seeing this, Chris Nolan?

Have you ever wondered why the theme to Scooby Doo is so (seemingly) purposefully terrible? The singing is off tempo, the instruments are out tune, there are random sound effects that don't match the action.

From the looks of Pineapple express' previews. I'm thinking it's going to be pretty fucking funny. And Superbad was an instant classic to say the least. Some things are just so ridiculous they might work. This being one of them.

oddly enough, there actually was a scooby doo episode that included batman and robin. unfortunately, they sparatically forgot to add color to batman and robin's tights throughout the show. it was pretty terrible.

Saw "Express" last night and was fucking hilarious! Best stoner movie so far...much better than Harold and Kumar, Half Baked, etc.

A great and strange idea. Nothing wrong with Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow movies. Superbad had me laughing uncontrollably for about three days. I couldn't see straight and my facial muscles were seriously aching, so I went to hospital and found out I have a tumor in my brain and its pressing against my medial temporal lobe.

You forgot Scooby-doo/Sonny and Cher, Scooby-doo/Mama Cass Elliot, Scooby-doo/Don Knotts... there are probably dozens more.
The Harlem Globetrotters episode was one of the greats, though.

better yet, it should be dale and Saul vs Harold and kumar with a jay and silent bob cameo

@11, urkel was on Family Matters. Full House didn't have any black people either.

People playing multiple roles in movies isn't exactly that hard to fathom. See "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back".
Also, sounds like it could be good.

probably one of the best reasons not to do the movie.

did anyone else notice the two movies take place in the same location? there were a lot of shots of "clark county" police cars, bus stops, and newspapers. clark county is where superbad happened. since it was written by the same two guys, probably has no meaning. unless...
