Aug 11 2008New 'Star Trek' Character Posters Show That Cast Are Wearing Appropriate Uniforms
The new Star Trek character posters were revealed at VegasCon this weekend, finally putting together the actor-face/slight-hint-of-uniform combo we've been envisioning for months. Is it just me or does Simon Pegg look far more like Tim Conway than Scotty? (Dorf references are still relevant, right?)
High resolution here.

No, I think Simon Pegg is trying to pull a Sam Neilly on us.
2. Jumpin_J - August 11, 2008 2:19 PM
Why does no one in the poster look over 25? Would you let a 25 year old fly a starship? Hell no!
3. Amphetadex - August 11, 2008 2:36 PM
I was thinking of how Simon Pegg actually reminds me of Sam Neill there for some reason.
Also, who is the guy on the lower right supposed to be? Cause he's reminding me of the doctor from DS9, and I doubt that who he's supposed to be. :P
4. Lisa - August 11, 2008 2:44 PM
I thought the same thing, Amphetadex; turns out that's McCoy (so we were half right).
5. Henry Lee - August 11, 2008 2:57 PM
It took me ten seconds to see that it was actually Simon Pegg and not Liev Schreiber. And Karl Urban looks like Brandon Routh, and in the previous Trek-poster Eric Bana looked like Fred Durst! What the hell is going on?
6. Nick - August 11, 2008 2:57 PM
I was thinking Simon Pegg was going for either Kevin Pollak or a portlier Bradley Whitford.
7. Nick - August 11, 2008 3:00 PM
Actually, I thought Karl Urban was going for Nathan Fillion there.
8. Buttercup - August 11, 2008 3:29 PM
Lower right is Anton Yelchin who is playing Chekhov, not McCoy.
9. Lisa - August 11, 2008 4:09 PM
@Buttercup: my bad, apparently I don't know left from right (usually I have to make an "L" with my thumb and first finger to figure it out..)
10. ken - August 11, 2008 4:25 PM
The lower left looks like Chris Noth wondering who just farted...
11. Stu - August 11, 2008 5:40 PM
I thought Pegg was Joey Pantoliano at first...
12. Who - August 11, 2008 7:06 PM
I love how these guys will grow up to look nothing like themselves in their 20's.
I guess Scotty wore a piece all those years because he's already bald in the academy...
13. Simon Pegg - August 11, 2008 8:54 PM
Balding, dammit!
14. EthanDuke - August 11, 2008 10:05 PM
Simon looks like Tim Conway and Sam Neill's love child. The rest of them look like they're in high school.
15. Brandon - August 12, 2008 2:38 AM
I can barely tell that's John Cho, and Simon Pegg certainly does not look like Simon Pegg.

Jesus I never even recognised it as Simon Pegg!

John Cho makes me wet. Simon Pegg is cool and I agree with almost all the comparisons. The Kevin Pollack made me LOL. Good call. I am not into Star trek really except for the appearance of it on Futurama. I would see this movie. And lower right, who is that? It CAN'T be Eric Bana.
18. Henry Lee - August 12, 2008 10:58 AM
Eric Bana is in this poster:

Top left. Looking like Fred Durst.
19. Uncle Eccoli - August 12, 2008 12:08 PM
This production is a sham and will be the worst thing ever to happen to Star Trek - worse than Nemesis, worse than Enterprise, and worse than Brannon Braga.
20. Amphetadex - August 12, 2008 2:00 PM
@19: Even worse than Star Trek V? Even that might not be possible.
21. Supernetuser - August 12, 2008 2:15 PM
This is all happening in remake season, don't forget this. The remake is trendy, so Star Trek the remake may be more popular than Star Trek, original series, Remastered edition.
22. Uncle Eccoli - August 12, 2008 2:23 PM
@20 Yeah, it was definitely crap, but back then Trek could've handled this. Now, after Enterprise and Nemesis' poor performances, the studio looks on Star Trek as a flagging franchise, so they figure, "Alright, let's give the Wanker King a shot at it, it's on its last leg anyway."
Trouble is, they're wrong. The franchise is fine, it's just that the last few attempts have been trash. I doubt Trek can survive Abrams in the hands of Paramount.

Jumpin J....the second poster....you're fucking retarded. Why do they have to be over 25 to fly a starship? The Navy lets 18 year olds navigate and pilot multi-million ships. Im sure in the day and age of Star Trek its the same way.
24. Ivana - February 25, 2009 6:57 AM
They look like none of them is over 25?! LMAO
39-year old Simon Pegg and 36-year old Karl Urban and John Cho would be very flattered to hear that.
Granted, Cho does look younger than he is (and his character is supposed to be younger than McCoy or Scotty), but Simon Pegg?! Please. Pegg certainly did not look under 30 in "Shawn Of The Dead", which was released in 2004... let alone now!!
The only one who looks under 25 is Anton Yelchin, who is a 19-year old Russian... and, surprise, surprise, that's exactly what his character is supposed to be!
I am having a laugh at the people who complain that the new Star Trek cast is 'too young'. Hello?! They are all over 30, apart from Yelchin, and Pine who is 28, so not far off. And the characters are supposed to be a few years *younger* than Kirk, Spock and co. were at the start of the series. Shatner and Nimoy were 35 at the start of Star Trek, Nichols was 34, Kelley and Doohan 46, Koenig was 30 (older than his character, unlike Yelchin), Takei 29. Where's the problem?

@2, Eh, never bothered to look further?????? James T Kirk was not much older when he pilotted a starship, and what the heck, if you are 16 and allowed to drive a car, is that responsible? I don't think so.
And think about this... There has to be a sequel, so the actors must be vital and not too old and bla bla, they are actors and nothing more, it's a gig! MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!! AHAAAA IT"S SO FUNNY
