Aug 6 2008'Gentlemen Broncos' Fake Website is Kind of Great
In Napoleon Dynamite writer/director Jared Hess's Gentlemen Broncos, a teenager attending a fantasy novel convention learns his book idea has been stolen by an already established novelist. Since the internet is still popular (for now...), a website for the antagonist novelist, played by Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement, has been set up. And you know what's crazy? It's actually funny--like Garth Marenghi's Darkplace as a website with a creepy, cursor-following effigy, horrible art, instructional videos, and novel excerpts. The audiobook sample of "Cyborg Harpies" contains the line, "Well, speak of the doomlord," which alone won my endorsement.
Have it. (Thanks to Hal.)

Hahaha..."She touched her boob again."
If this movie lives up to its viral marketing, it will be hilarious.

Man, the photos in the gallery are so hilarious! He's still attractive, though!

Holy shit, Jermaine looks exactly like Benicio del Toro.

God I love Garth Merenghi. The website is funny, the talking 3D head is hilarious, but the website isn't the movie, so I'll have to see if the kitschy new age graphics and such will come across as funny on film.

Isn't this exactly like 'Big Fat Liar?'

@3: I totally agree. Though Jemaine doesn't look quite so much like Zombie Brad Pitt as Del Toro does.
The site is pretty funny, and not too hiddensecretsy or unlockablecontentsy. These are good signs.
Though I know a lot of people hated it, Napoleon Dynamite was fun and funny and atleast different than other movies. This looks/sounds (at least from the website) like it will be pretty funny, and even if it isn't it should at least be quotable.
Mammary cannons. Heh.

I wholeheartedly endorse all with Jemaine and/or Bret!

@3 and 6 YES!
I've always thought he looks quite similar to Benicio del Toro and the facial hair really just confirmed it. It's quite bizarre, but as long as he doesn't open his mouth, you can barely tell the 2 apart.

I laughed until tears fell like rain. The gallery and the excerpt were priceless. Instructional video, not so much.
