Jul 23 2008'Yes Man' Trailer Actually Completely Unagreeable
Well, here's the teaser trailer to Jim Carrey's Yes Man. As Videogum pointed out, it seems a lot like Liar Liar, except instead of telling the truth he has to keep saying "yes," and also, if you pay attention, there is a subtle plug for Red Bull.
Is kissing someone and realizing you have their gum in your mouth really still a joke? The trailer claims it is, but I would have sworn that died around the same time as similarly outdated and unfunny kissing jokes like "braces getting stuck together" and "closing your eyes to kiss only to open them to something surprising, like finding out you're kissing a dog."

That shit looks fucking horrible.
Im gonna go see it.
I hope he makes a film where hes super rich and does crazy shit like spit on the homeless and rapes women. Until he meets an angel who tells him he must not do such bad things so he can get into heaven. And then he does and rapes the angel. ....dressed like a clown.
Now thats funny.

I also thought the very same thing that the storyline was similar to "Liar, Liar."

Jim Carrey has said 'No' to being funny.

i would totally go see that raping-an-angel-while-dressed-as-a-clown movie, ESPECIALLY if it were a musical...

Carrey is starting to look old.
...
I'm starting to look old.

It feels like he's playing catch up on the past 5 years. I hope this trailer has taken all these jokes out of context because none of it looks funny. :(
I'm actually rooting for Jim Carrey and always hoped he'd not sink into irrelevance, but I guess there really is no way to stop that from happening to anyone.

Any movie trailer that isn't forcing Danny McBride down our throats as the next comedic genius is fine by me. Unless it's Surfer Dude. That shit looks lame as fuck.

I never found him funny, finally the rest of the world has caught up with me.

Utterly criminal.
I winced when I heard of Jim Careys involvement in this movie, and he has all the charm & appeal of an unwiped arsehole.
Danny Wallace's book 'Yes Man' upon which this movie was, it would seem, incredibly loosely based (ie: it bares no resemblance) - was completely enchanting and snort-enducingly funny. I can not reccomend it highly enough.
However, I am beyond gutted that Mr Wallace has chosen to allow his story to be brutally sodomised.
Can't Jim Carey please crawl off into a drain somewhere and die now?

it doesn't look too bad but i definitely will wait till it comes out on vid. but it makes me sad that he such a good actor and he doesn't get good roles! WTF?!? If you haven't seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind I would HIGHLY recommend it..

You're absolutely right, this movie has been made before over and over again, this is a mix of Liar Liar and Chaos Theory, which just came out. Hollywood is so unoriginal it's funny ahahahaha oh wait no it's not ahahahahaha, now I don't know when to laugh, when they tell me it's funny, or when they tell me it's not funny but it's supposed to be funny but it's not ahahahahahaha

I love me some Zooey Deschanel, but I also love me some movies with more than one joke in them. And this one joke isn't even good.
15. Nev - July 23, 2008 6:43 PM
Has he done that Angel - Rape movie yet?
Still waiting...
16. Nick - July 23, 2008 9:51 PM
Zooey Deschanel.
Only reason to watch the movie. But then again I could watch better movies with her in it.

Shame...I hope it's better than it looks, as I did actually like that poster for it...

Totally agree with Simon. Danny's 'Yes Man' was funny (laugh out loud on the plane funny), personal, insightful, just a bloody good book. This movie seems to have taken the books cover notes, ignored everything other than, "say yes to everything" and spun a crock of crap from it. Shame because I thought Jim Carrey might be turning his 'career' around.

Like the other people who've read Danny Wallace's book, I am gutted by how the screenwriters / producers apparently failed to read past the back cover before creating this disappointment. Poop.

Have all you guys gone mental? This movie looks like he is rekindling the old Carrey inferno that made movies like The Mask and Liar, Liar so amazing. Anybody who says this doesnt look funny has fallen for all the comedic suicides of the last few years like "The Love Guru". Wake up, people. Jim Carrey re-invented comedy in the 90's and now he's back to remind us that nobody can do it like he can.

"all the charm & appeal of an unwiped arsehole".. I laughed out loud at that. Thanks.
