Jul 24 2008'Rocky Horror' Coming to MTV; Prepare to Shout and Throw Things at Screen

rocky-horror-picture-show-m.jpg

Remember the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Well prepare to forget it! Because MTV is making a hip new version for their cable network that's going to knock the last 30 years of midnight showings out of existence:

MTV is doing the time warp on a remake of 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Two-hour remake will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.

I really like that they're using the original screenplay. It's as close as they'll come to admitting "we have nothing new to add to this, but need an excuse to have another girl from The Hills act and sing something." Want to takes bets on how long it will be until we get an announcement for The Rocky Horror Reality Show, in which couples compete for who can stay longest in a transvestite-filled mansion?

(Thanks to R and Snoodle for the tip.)

Just when you thought there couldn't be something more overtly homo-erotic than "Rob and Big" on MTV....

Unnecessary remakes are one form of artistic masturbation. MTV is another. Put the two together and you've got one hot mess that makes you want to throw the fuck up.

on nos! :( *shakes fist at mtv*

BOOOOOOOOO!

Oh hell, we were supposed to throw things at the TV screen? I misread and the sheer horror made me scream profanities destroy a company monitor. Also, I think that using some "girl from the Hills" and "act" in the same sentence is a tad generous. Also, totally got fired for "Wanton Destruction of Company Property"

edit... scream profanities AND destroy a company monitor.

STOP THE INSANITY! ENOUGH WITH THE FRIGGIN' REMAKES!!!!

This makes me stab-y. Very, very stab-y. I may throw up all over the people at MTV. There are some movies that are never to be remade.

No, but seriously folks... can we all just get together, sign a petition, email out some death threats... whatever it takes really to stop people from pissing on our cherrished memories.... because I promise you, we are just a hair's breadth away from George Lucas deciding that he wants to remake, reimagine, restart, or reanimate THE GOONIES... and once it comes to that point there really will be no more point in living.

we are reading a lot of fake news these days. Did you remember the news about Britney's pregnancy, Lindsay's joining on the famous rich men seeking affairs site ★★★www.S u g a r d a d d y C o n n e c t. c o m★★★? Is this news true or not? who knows...

~~jaw drops in utter horror~~

I just watched Rocky Horror last night, and as I was watching it I turned to my boyfriend and said " I wonder how long it will be before someone tries to remake this, it would be a terrible thing to see". As far I am concerned, no one, not anyone could play Frank'n Furter like Tim Curry. There is a reason I own over 400 dvd's and it's because I can't stand to watch the shit being remade these days. It'd be nice if someone could get an original idea. I'll pass on this one and just keep singing along with my original.

The horrible thing is, I used to say to my friends "Heh, you know cinema's dead when they remake the Rocky Horror Picture Show..." ...ngh.
The only one with the chops to play Frank N. Furter (judging by his work in Cabaret as the Emcee) would be Neil Patrick Harris.....but we all know that's not going to happen because it's freakin' MTV T_T

NO........don't.....stop.....don't ......stop......NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

This terrible news prompted me to make my first ever facebook group - Please don't needlessly remake The Rocky Horror Picture Show, MTV!

I fucking hate this movie. An Mtv version of it would be 20x worse but then again i havent watched mtv since jenny macarthy left. . . damn jim carrey living out my frustrated dreams

I hate that movie

I might even be able to take the remake (even though the campy platform original would still kick it's arse) even though I wouldn't see it. But extra songs? No you fuckers, just NO!!!

Isn't this one of the signs of the apocalypse?

In all seriousness, MTV MUST BE DESTROYED!!!!!!

I knew we were in for trouble when I heard that idiot kid from High School Musical was in the works to remake Footloose. Made me want to poke my eyes out. Now I'm starting to think I should become a hermit and stop watching movies altogether. It might be safer.

Hollywood is starting to look and sound like "sons of the soil" - all inbred remakes with extra toes and missing ears that the normal relatives want to keep hidden in the attic.

dude this movie is amazing. what purpose does it serve to make another one? WHYYYYY????

LOL prediction that Tim Curry suddenly is no longer embarrassed or whatever by RHPS once it is on MTV and is the only one to support it...

Well at least this one can't be any worse!

AWW DID THAT HURT?

Oh crap...wtf?

I swear, MTV makes me so sad and by sad I mean angry and prone to wall-punching. Knowing them, they'll probably have an idiot from Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy or some glam-goth band play Tim Curry's role.

MTV is still on? Good for them.. I thought they packed it in the mid 90's..

Hey #10, take your stupid plug for your stupid website and shove it up your mama's ass!! Btw, MTV is a pathetic shell of its former self.

im sorry but WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! the rocky horror doesnt need remaking no one can beat the people from the original its meant to be a cult classic now it sjust going to be ruined next thing u know they will hav fukkin 50 cent as rocky shame on you mtv the onli time its acceptable to remake rocky is on the stage not on your shitty excuse for a music channel filled with paris hilton wannabes i can see rocky bein destroyed now...brad and janet break down OH!!! AND WHATS THIS....XZIBIT IS HERE TO PIMP THERE RIDE....i will fight this movie as much as possible
