Jul 8 2008'Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist' Poster is the Next Quirky Whatever

The sounds of Kimya Dawson and "honest to blogs" quotes are still echoing in my head (now on DVD!), but apparently we may have the next Juno (the next Little Miss Sunshine) on our hands--another comedy-romance driven by indie music, Michael Cera's endless awkwardness, and a hand-lettered title. From MTV Movies Blog:

“Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” the music-centric, romance-tinged comedy (based on the bestselling book) that finds Michael Cera and Kat Dennings as high school seniors who join forces to hunt down an elusive secret concert in New York City. I’ve seen this one and it could very well be the new “Juno.”

Thus, by using reverse logic and noting the familiar side-view of a yellow vehicle in the lower corner, we can infer that this, in fact, actually the new Little Miss Sunshine, and didn't that already come out? What I'm saying is that quirkiness has torn a hole in the space-time continuum, and we're now doomed to spend eternity in a sea of too-clever dialogue and Golden Globe nominations.

Perhaps Michael Cera isn't awkward... maybe he is a player in this as he is looking down Kat's blouse -- and it is possible his hand is on her ass, as well.

This was an amazing book. However, I'm not sure about the casting.

Is Michael Cera the only under 30 actor in Hollywood? Or do he and Shia LeBouff have a monopoly?

Myrna Loy was infinitely hotter.

I guess every generation needs a John Cusack, and it looks like Michael Cera is stepping up to the task. I can just see him standing there with a boom box over his head, or trying to find a way to save his group of underdog friends from the obnoxious cool kids. That being said, I really liked Juno. It was quirky, yes, but it was also funny in a way that I haven't quite seen before. I just hope that the hand-written lettering is all that they're copying with this movie, cause there's a depressing lack of originality in Hollywood as it is.

I loved the book but Michael Cera as Nick...I just don't see it. At the beginning of the book Nick is playing guitar(I think) in a "queercore" punk band. Can you see him doing that? Yeah...I didn't think so. I just hope they don't change the whole story--that would really suck.

This broad is pretty hot. She's got some nice titties.
They're actually larger and more lucious than Eva Braun's.

Love,
Furher

Michael Cera is a hooded sweatshirt chameleon. In one movie he is grey, and in the next he is navy!

I'll take too clever over too stupid any day.

I am really tired of the handlettering that defines/is necessary for every "indie" style movie for hipsters.

Also, Cera! Stop stealing all the work for awkward lovable nerds. Topher grace and toby mcguire need work too.

bahhh...indie, my ass

if this was a true indie the chesy larue up there would get em out at least once.

Hey this is directed by PETER SOLLETT who did the amazing RAISING VICTOR VARGAS a few years ago (which unfortunately no one has seen). But since it was amazing and not in love with quirk perhaps this will be amazing too.

just sayin' ;)

Does it seem like the actors name placement not corresponding with thier positioning on the poster happens a little too often to be a coincidence?

Hmmm. I wonder if they have a dog named Asta? Oh damn CJ beat me to the THIN MAN joke. I'm just glad this isn't a remake.

This movie has "Stuff White People Like" (hand) written all over it.

I hated Juno. If it weren't for Arrested Development, that effing piece of crap movie would have ruined Cera for me. This movie will probably do the job, though. Honest to blog.
