Jul 16 2008'Monster Squad' Remake Will Ruin Your 'Wolfman's Got Nards' Quoting Sessions

Seeing as how "destruction of any and all pleasant nostalgia" has become a veritable genre in recent years, I've made up a generic template to make it easier for me to post the most recent studio attempts at recreating our childhoods with CGI and sadness. Here's the latest:

Hey, remember that show/movie/toyline you enjoyed as a child, Monster Squad? Well, bad news. It's being re-made into a movie by Rob Cohen, director of xXx, Stealth, terrible things. Here is a related quote:

“The Wolfmans got Nards! What a great line" Cohen jokes with Bloody-Disgusting. "I am talking with Paramount about the ownership rights, we just found out that because of all the different companies being bought and sold, (it was so hard to do) but we believe all the rights are back at Paramount. I have been waiting to finish this (third Mummy) film, to really start the talks about remaking it. Maybe I would direct, maybe someone else with me producing. I really think highly of that that film…I mean, how great is it with The Mummy, the Wolfman, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, Frankenstein they all were in it! It would be a prime remake!”

Time to go quietly sob in a hand-dug hole!

oh.......ok then?

Rob who?

Is there nothing new, fresh, creative, or is it all rewarmed leftovers?

I am an avid fan of the original ( Dekker signed poster, special edition dvd ) and this will suck like all other failed remakes. Why can't they just leave once great movies alone?

Save me Jebus, from more of Rob Cohen's "movies".

It's okay, no matter what they re-make, we'll still have the originals.

I say we all make a pact to boycott any and all future re-makes that come out of Hollywood from now on.

Except for the cool-looking ones, that is...or any that star people we really like...or...awww forget it.

I wonder if the Monster Kid fans of the original Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, etc. made the same complaints about the original "Monster Squad".

Waitasecond, I know some! Let me ask... Yep! They hate it! Apparently "Monster Squad" ruined their childhood nostalgia too!

Yeah, Corey, you're right. Did those guys who played monsters in Monster Squad ever do anything else?
Nah! Give me Lugosi, Karloff, and Chaney any day of the week!

SO MAKE A NEW FUCKING FILM WITH ALL OF THE MONSTERS YOU UN-ORIGINAL FRUIT CAKE!!!
Its such an easy film to make a new group of kids in their own new monster squad or something... even the old "Yeah were Older now but were still the squad' routine is better than remaking this movie.
I think they should remake the Fast and the Furious.

Monster Squad is extremely different from the original stories its monsters are taken from. The analogy there is terrible.
