Jul 24 2008'Max Payne' Posters Promise Guns, Angels, Shafts of Light
Well, Max Payne: The Video Game: The Movie has a couple posters, and it looks like they're going to stick with this Mark Wahlberg vs. Angel of Death Thing motif they set up in the trailer. I don't know how relevant that is to the source material, but I guess I can't argue that the promise of guns and angels is a pretty decent way to market to much of middle America.
Under the cut: poster #2, which takes inspiration from the video game cover art and that Banky character's graffiti that's so popular with the kids nowadays.

Banksy? Hardly. Stencil isn't exclusive to Banksy. Now rat stencils, those are his bag.

I still can't get over the fact they used Mark for the character. I mean he is too short to be Max Payne. Damn it!!!
I wonder if he will channel his "Marky-Mark" days to fill the anger. lmao

It's not an "angel of death". The "angels" are representations of the Valkyrie drug, a main thread in the original games.

Are you sure? That's a theory I've heard thrown around a few times, and it sounds good, but there's a lot of theology in the lines of dialog from the trailer, and one of the angels grab a guy as he dies... I'm not trying to shoot you down, but you're stating the V theory as fact, and I'm just wondering if it is.

Could anybody come up with a photoshop technique that would replicate the effect of the second photo? that would be pretty bitchin` if it could be done

I never played the game and I cannot stand Mark Wahlberg, but that top poster looks badass enough to make me consider watching the movie.

@7: Turn pic to grayscale, turn up contrast, clean it up a bit by hand. Use an "airbrush" brush to fuzz out parts of the edges, and hand-draw some drips to round it out. Make it a little bit transparent, slap it on top of a wall. Voila.
Also: Not Banky! Banksy! Banksy Banksy Banksy!

...unless you were trying to make a point, in which case never mind.

The game really stands out because of the story, i belive alone the cut-scenes last over an hour. Anyway the game was really kickass they better not sccrew it up with the movie. It would have been really awesome if they had casted Sam Lake (original max payne) for the role.

I say go with #2 cos angels are never really a good motif for posters.
