Jul 16 2008Leonardo DiCaprio Might Be 'Inglorious Bastard'
Last week, rumor was that Brad Pitt would be taking a lead role in Quentin Tarantino's latest, Inglorious Bastards. Now, another A-list name can be added to the hypothetical list you're keeping: Growing Pains star Leonardo DiCaprio! From Variety:
After the director met Brad Pitt in France on Tuesday, those studios are already salivating over the expectation that Tarantino will land Pitt to play the key role of Aldo Raine. They'll be even keener if Tarantino's plan to meet Leonardo DiCaprio for another lead role goes well Thursday. Tarantino wants DiCaprio to play the role of Hans Landa.
I can't decide if this is really strong casting or casting entirely from a 1996 issue of Tiger Beat. The deciding factor will be if Tarantino tries to scrape together a posthumous performance from Jonathan Brandis.

Ummmm, Jonathan Brandis hung himself in 2003 or something like that......so I don't think he'll be making the cut for this movie.

Ummmmmmmm, look up "posthumous," AJ.

Does anyone care that Tarantino can't spell anything? Why can't I be a millionaire?

i read the script
i pictured Brad Pitt as a better Frank Zoller (i think that's his name, the German war hero)
and Tim Roth as Hans Landa
I could see Leonardo DiCaprio as Aldo Raine

The sheer number of successful people who can't spell is quite simply depressing. Try reading an office memo from one of the higher-ups once.

what the hell. this isn;t the right place for it, but:
i just got back from a prescreening of dark knight. it was pretty effing rad.
also: i am way more excited about watchmen than I should be. the trailer makes it look amazing.
also: the trailer for the spirit looks AWFUL. basically, it was "hey look at all these slutty women. also, scarves." I'm sad about that one, the spirit is a great character.

Leo has proven himself to be a great actor in recent years, and so has Brad Pitt. I'm glad, but also a little disappointed that Tarantino isn't discovering new gems like he used to.

"Reservoir Dogs" was one of the worst movies i've seen. I fell asleep after going into the movie 25 minutes later.
QT is not that great.

@3: Thanks for a nose-milk-squirtingly good post.
Tarantino is way overrated, but Reservoir Dogs is probably his best movie.

This will be a terrible career move for both Brad and Leonardo. Honestly, how many of you have seen Quentin Tarantino's full body of work? Crap! The few notable hits he had during his career were all concepts by other writers. In addition, Quentin *CANNOT* direct any blockbuster movies with thespians of top billing. He just doesn't have the skill for it. The promotional value of everyone's career is nonexistant.
Are Brad and Leonardo's careers so far into the toilet right now that they would sign on for this risky venture? It sounds suicidal to me.
