Jul 25 2008Harold & Kumar Will Visit/Escape From Another Place
Though no miniature burger or torture destination has been named, New Line has announced that Harold and Kumar will be a trilogy:
Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who wrote "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" and "Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay" and directed the latter, will return to write and direct a third installment for Mandate Pictures.Storyline is being kept under wraps.
Stars John Cho and Kal Penn are expected to reprise their roles as the ganja-loving duo because Mandate has options on the actors for the third installment.
I kept waiting for the part where they explained that this will be a prequel, in which younger actors do impressions of Harold and Kumar, but this seems to be legitimate. I just hope I can still see Kumar as a stoner now that I know he is, in reality, a doctor working under the medical maverick House M.D.

i thought the first movie was insanely hilarious. havent seen the second one yet, but i'm all for the 3rd one! as long as it stops at triliogy and doesnt become a line of horrible horrible movies branded w/ the original name i.e. national lampoon's....american pie's.....etc etc

I agree that they should stop at three. Four is pushing it in any series (except maybe Harrye Potter). Just look at those wacky Police Academy movies.

how about a combination of franchises... i propose "Honey! I Shrunk Harold and Kumar and Now They Have To Escape from Inside Their Bong Before They Drown!" hmm... too long. will probably get shot down in test audiences.

I think the most important question here is, "how will they bring back NPH!?"

The first one was hilarious, the second one had a couple of funny moments. I'm only rooting for a third if they promise to make as awesome as the first...
... otherwise, TWO THUMBS DOWN!

But will NPH make his triumphant return :o??? They're really sort of obligated too after the after-credits bit :p

Both Harold and Kumar movies have been the shit, with the first one being battle shit, and the second one being a blumpkin.
A third could be cool, if they ditch the girls (yea sure, the Maria chick is hawt but the girl just isn't funny). And bring back a fucked up NPH with a vengeance.

Name any other situation where an Asian guy get's hit on by hot chicks?
Doogie was funny in the first movie.

momboelitist -
You talking about on the big-screen/TV? Well, of course not! The haole man writes the script, so, the haole man always gets the girls.
What the Asian man needs is his own "Spike Lee" to jump start our "Renaissance."
But, in the meantime...haole writes the scripts, so, haole is the hero and gets all the girls.

Haole! Been a long time since i heard that one, brah. But you need someone better than spike lee, i mean the man made "girl 6." In the movies from hong kong you can still see the asian heroes getting fine women (the finest in fact), but you're right that the writer's set the table. People become so enamored with actors when they really have no power, they're just set peices that walk and talk. The real question here is if john and kal really will be happy with a third "harold and kumar," on their resume's or if the studio is forcing the issue.
