Jul 3 2008'Day the Earth Stood Still' Trailer is Incredibly Keanu-y
I've never seen Keanu so Keanu-y. In trying to take on the role of an alien, he's somehow become an exaggerated, even more lifeless version of himself, and it's very, very strange to behold. If standard Keanu was the final boss of a video game, this trailer's Keanu is like the super powerful, insanely difficult version that emerges after you beat the normal one. Keanu but more so, and all without even uttering a "whoa."

Well.. that didn't last long. I loaded it on one machine, then realized I didn't have sound on it.. went to load it on the other machine... and it was gone.

another fuckin aline attack movie (yes i kno its a remake and/or book). but it sucks, i dont wanna see it. cud watch war of the worlds if i wanted to.

I bought the original from amazon for 5 bucks a couple of months ago. Still a great film with perfectly good acting and effects.
Just like hairspray and charlie and the chocolate factory, the original was mostly notable for its quirky appeal rather than dialog or plot.
There's really no point in a remake.

Wow, i can't believe how few comments are on here. Apparently most everyone is too preoccupied day-dreaming about K.K.'s nasty, fake ass to realize a cinema classic is being raped here. This remake looks horrible. I'm sure I'll watch it for curiosity's sake eventually, but like ass I'm paying for it.
Keanu Reeves instead of Michael Rennie? Please.

i am a huge fan of the original. it was voted "culturally, historically, or historically significant" by the US National Film Registry in '95 and is rated by AFI as the 5th best sci-fi film of all time this year. why remake such an amazing classic??
i was excited when i heard they were going to re-create the film, but this remake is not about nuclear warfare bringing about the end of mankind as the original was.. it is about environmental issues ending life. i wonder how they'll work with that.

I'll go see it. I never saw the original, so I will be watching this with an open mind. Plus, I am one of the few people who actually like Keanu. I don't see what's wrong with him.

I know it's popular to hat Reeves, but the very personality trait that everyone makes complains about is what makes him perfect for this role. HOWEVER, it is very obvious that this is a just a movie that is borrowing the famous name of a classic movie, just because it's loosely has the same plot. Could be a good movie, but please Hollywood, stop sucking the life out of the classics.
