Jul 9 2008Brad Pitt's Name Heard in Vague Relation to 'Inglorious Bastards'
Childcare specialist Brad Pitt may have a role in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards. Hollywood Reporter just brought the news that Tarantino will be re-teaming with the Weinsteins to shoot his Dirty Dozen-inspired WWII tale, and though no cast is yet locked, Pitt's name has reportedly "surfaced." That's Hollywood trade talk for, "No one will read this boring article about financing unless we add something juicy. Is Brad Pitt still popular? Put his name in there, but only incredibly vaguely hint that he's in the cast so that we can later deny everything."
Meanwhile, I hear Clooney's name is also "loitering in the proximity" of the casting sheet, and that Matt Damon's name "drifted past in a fine vapor," while Shia LaBeouf's name was "heard as ghostly echo with no discernible source."

Don't really care about the casting, though Brad Pitt would be an interesting choice. It would be nice to see Tarantino bring forth some new stars, like he did for Sam Jackson. I don't know. Doesn't really matter. I've heard the script is amazing.

Am I going to be punched in the face for saying Tarantino is overrated? I enjoyed Reservoir Dogs, but it ends about there. Pulp Fiction is obviously influential and I feel that I "get it", but it's just not the gem everyone makes it out to be. Plus the guy needs to stop thinking he can act. Oh well, maybe this one will change my mind.

Tarantino overrated? Not a chance.
Here's the reason people think he's "overrted":
T. has so changed the face of movies over the past 20 yaers--through camera technique, story-telling style, character-development, and so on--that almost every major action, action-drama, and crime movie that's come out (Italian Job, Oceans 11-12-13, The Departed, Babel, etc. etc. etc. ) has been influenced by Tarantino. Do you think either "Momento" OR the current flurry of super-hero pulp movies --"Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" in particular-- could have been possible without "Pulp Fiction"? Not a chance.
To "get" Tarantino, we just need to put him in his historical context: nobody made movies like him in the 90's, and now everybody does.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Just a tad delusional there Joe. What are you, QT's Promotion Team, with that spelling I hope not.
I just can not see why the likes of Pitt, Clooney, or Damon would even bother with QT when they have their pick from a long list of creative, intelligent choices. I'm with Rob on this one, hopefully the film will surprise me in a good way, and as well I am desperately hopeful QT has given up his acting aspirations.
