Jul 10 2008'Ace Ventura Jr.' is Not Something I'm Making Up
Mercifully, no, this is not the first image of Chunk from a Goonies remake, which would be the worst idea of all time. But it is the first look at very close to as bad of an idea: Ace Ventura Jr. Did Son of the Mask and Dumb and Dumberer not teach us that '90s Jim Carrey comedies should not spawn child-based sequels? I would have thought that went without saying, but let me say it again. '90s Jim Carrey comedies should not spawn child-based sequels. This rule similarly applies to '90s Adam Sandler comedies. I know that hasn't happened yet, but I can all too easily see Scion of Billy Madison heading straight-to-DVD despite the fact that a child returning to school would make no sense as a concept.
A Look at the New Ace Ventura [Moviehole]

Hollywood really misses Jim Carrey making comedies and getting paid less than $20 million per movie. I loved Ace Ventura and The Mask and it pisses me off to see crap like dumb and dumberer/ son of the mask being made but then again im pretty sure this doesn't bother Carrey at all. . . for god's sake he's boning Jenny Macarthy. He's living my early-mid 90's dream.

I think the only one I could conceive of working would be Before They Fell In Love At First Bite, but I don't remember enough of the plot to conjecture one for a prequel.

You know when Dave Letterman has a child guest as an interview, and he says "I hear you do impressions!" and the kid smiles and says "yeah... ha ha... yeah" and Dave says "Well lets see one, which do you do?" and the kid says "ha ha... I do Ace Ventura" and Dave goes "okay lets see it... here it comes people, little so and so doing Ace Ventura!"????
Yeah... well that shitty impression... THE MOVIE!
Alrighty then.

Now imagine that same picture 20 years from now when both of these kids are seriously addicted to crank and doing a reality show on A&E to patch up their fake estranged friendship.
Wait....That sounds familiar..Hmmm....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Hollywood! Can you come up with something original and quit with the sequels?! Stop stealing from the British, stop rehashing faded, tattered, tv shows and movies that were not always that great to begin with!!
