Jun 13 2008'Punisher: War Zone' Trailer
I have to say, it looks like Punisher: War Zone has rectified most of the problems that burdened the last attempt at a Punisher movie. They've removed the John Travolta factor (replacing him with McNulty from The Wire), replaced the good looks of Thomas Jane with the dead, crazy eyes of Ray Stevenson, transported the action to the world of a really awesome Nerf gun commercial, and added several instances of arms-out spinning and shooting--like when you'd hold down L and R in the overhead levels of Contra III. Now it's just common sense and every other element keeping me from wanting to see this! (Thanks to Brad for the tip.)

I see too many cliches.
1) The city from "The Crow" and every other graphic novel made into a movie.
2) Jumping over an alley into a window. (The Matrix)
3) Walking over a table of powerful bad guys. (Kill Bill)
4) Bathroom tile fight scene. (Eastern Promises)
5) Slow motion rotated shooting: I forget where I've seen this, but it's upside down so it's totally different and awesome.
6) Bunch of bad guys behind a wall pointing guns at the good guy pointing his gun back.
Some kind of terror threat? You might as well put an expiration date on this movie.

3) was in The Crow too
5) is in the The Boondock Saints.
Is it bad that I kind of want to see this?

Who paints a skull on their chest with the forethought of "I just want there to be a hint of a skull, nothing over the top"?

err.. blame Marvel/the comic?
Anyways i semi-liked the Punisher movie (Jane, not Ivan Drago) but this one.. yeesh

Geek moment- The reason he paints a skull on his chest, much like Batman with the Bat symbol is so that people aim for it. Its where his body armor is strongest.
Anyway, this looks like complete trash. I liked the Jane Punisher movie except for completely changing his origin by moving him from NY. This looks like just over the top ridiculous and Stevenson seems to be trying too hard to sound tough.

Sorry, let me rephrase... Why, instead of going with a fully visible skull like the comic, did they choose to make it look like it was applied with a light dusting of powdered sugar?

The bit with The Punisher on the table reminds me of a bit from a McBane movie in The Simpsons when he breaks out of ice.

I thought Tom Jane was a really good Punisher, this movie looks horrid

What Happen to Thomas Jane from the Punisher (2004). Who is this new guy? IDK bout you guys but I was comfortably satisfied with Thomas Jane as the Punisher! (Seems like another Hollywood Remake using none of the same people, asking you to pay to see the same movie you already saw with some better effects) Shame on you hollywood (slap on the hand sound effect).

Patrick-
Try tracking down some early shots of Jane and you'll see why they went with the "faded" look. There were some publicity shots released or leaked well before the 2004 movie came out. He was wearing the classic white skull- and he looked ridiculous. He looked like he'd wandered over to the mall and picked up a Punisher t-shirt. The design made him look less like the Punisher and more like a forty year old Punisher fanatic.
I liked the 2004 movie too, and this looks pretty crappy, but I like Ray Stevenson, and I don't think he's a bad choice for the role. I'll probably sign up just to see Titus Pullo vs. Jimmy McNulty.

Another remake part of this movie, When he's hanging from the celling going in a circle shooting. Same move Ice T did in 3000 miles to graceland. If this is the best they can do with this movie, FORGET going to see it, I'll wait till it's on cable.

Thomas Jane passed on this movie because the fans complained that the last movie wasn't true enough to the comics, and after researching it he agreed. So when he saw the script for this one and thought it wasn't close enough either, he declined.
Of course, the script has changed since then. They always do.

*gasp* An action moving using recycled action sequences!? No fucking way!
Seriously, quit your bitching unless you have some new creative ways to shoot someone. After Shoot 'em Up, I highly doubt there's any fresh ideas for over-the-top shoot outs.
Fail remake of a fail recent remake is still fail times two.

Thomas Jane was made for the role. And I actually liked that movie.. it had good real action (no cgi) and some humour. They should have kept Jane.
Ray Stevenson has done good roles, but I don't see him as the Punisher. The trailer looks just like every other action movie.

"An action moving using recycled action sequences!?"
Yes, this is typical Hollywood.
What's particularly offensive is stealing an iconic scene from ANOTHER comic book, like oh, say The Dark Knight, when he crashes the dinner party and tells them, "the feast is over".
C'mon.

I kinda liked the Thomas Jane Punisher movie, but I'll probably see this one as well. I'm sure it'll be fun if you can just suspend disbelief and just watch the body count.

hmmm, it looks like a good movie, not every movie has to be the most original thing, just be fun to watch.
