Jun 19 2008Preview of 'Presto', the Short Airing Before 'WALL-E'
Still wondering if you should show up to WALL-E carefully-calculated five minutes late, thus avoiding the traditional Pixar short that precedes the film? Here's a tenth of it for you to judge and decide! And yes, the idea of a preview for a bonus short before a feature is as absurd as you're thinking it is. We're nearing the point of having commercials for commercials.

I remember the days when shorts were normal before features and it was only in the 70s when it stopped. I remember seeing Pink Panther and Yogi Bear shorts in front of MGM movies.
There was a nod to it back for Roger Rabbit and 3 later Touchstone features.
Where do you think Tom and Jerry and all the Bugs Bunny shorts came from?
Most of those shorts feature MGM or Warner Brothers songs in the shorts that also were used in the features that followed.

The Pixar Shorts are worth going in early to see. They are the funniest short films and Pixar uses them for testing out new techniques and as a training ground for new CGI Animators. There is even a DVD out with nothing but every one of the pixar shorts from Lumo to Lifted and they are all worth watching.

And did anyone even notice the hat? It's Mickey's Sorcerer Hat from Fantasia and the one he wears as Imagineering's Iconic Tradmark?

Very funny, that bunny reminds me of Bugs Bunny
And why are you (the poster) bashing the pixar shorts??
Looney tunes where the movie shorts of the 50s
Can u imagine a world without the looney tunes??
Without Bugs, Daffy, Elmer, Sylverster etc etc??
Man what a sad dull world would it be
So please ease of the animation shorts

I saw an early screening of Wall*E...It is the best Pixar movie in a long time, if not ever... so please go see it.. and Presto was HILARIOUS... one of the best shorts they have ever done.. real classic looney tunes style stuff from the disney camp.

The bunny sounds and acts exactly like Scrat, the squirrel in Ice Age.

Cutest & most hilarious Pixar short so far. It was genuinely entertaining....

This short is fantastic. Genuine laughs and great slapstick. This is Pixar as inspired by Warner Brothers (Tex Avery, Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones). Sorry Disney, but Warner did genuine comedy much better once upon a time. Alec the rabbit is a softer, smaller version of Bugs Bunny.
The only nod to Disney seems to be Presto himself; he seems to be a caricature of Walt.
Also, much has been made of the lack of dialog in the first half of Wall-E. This short has absolutely zero dialog.
And the graphic design of the end credits is another Pixar mini-masterpiece.
