Jun 11 2008Possibly, Sort of, What the New RoboCop Might Look Like
From the currently underway Licensing International Expo in New York, here's the first look at a poster for MGM's remake of RoboCop. So what should we hate first? How strange it is that the head is completely disembodied? That it looks like an old Battlestar Galactica Cylon but with a random, slightly smirking mouth edited on? The broad idea that this is being done at all? I don't know where to start.

he looks kinda CGI . . . That would suck . . . having said that, I would want to see what the scene where he gets shot up would look like today. It would def. not be as violent. The 80's were the ultra violent movie decade. I just want to see him get pumped full of so much lead that his arm falls off. ah, memories :)

I agree with #3 on this one, why remake it? I actually enjoyed the first one, second one was bearable but the third one was just outright horrible! I guess we're still riding the trend.
Give me a month and I'll remake this post.

Maybe it's a reboot. You know, like Batman Begins. I still think a new RoboCop movie could be good if done right. Get Robert Rodriguez to direct it. Tarantino can write it.

I disagree with the new Robocop's body being envisaged as a giant slab of grille from which the head protrudes.
Other than that, fine, remake everything I guess. People sure did wear vaguely funny clothes in the dystopian future of the 1980s!

i'm in the minority who thought the robocops series got better as it progressed.

The question I'm wondering is are they going to go all out and give us the ultra violence like in the first Robocop? I'm just scared that they're going to replace the action with scenes of a cyborg crying about how shitty it is being... a cyborg. Spidy 3, Superman, Xmen 3- all suddenly had super heroes getting all emo. Ironman kicked ass though.

The first thing I thought was that it looked too much like a Cylon as well.
(sigh) Why doesn't Hollywood try to remake the bad movies instead of the good ones? There's a lot of them to go around, so why remake the good stuff?
