Jun 5 2008Oliver Stone's 'W' Teaser Poster
"Here's what I'm thinking for the poster: just a 'W'. Clean, simple, elegant. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe it should also have a pronunciation key, so everyone knows how funny it is how Bush pronounces 'W'--make it sort of like a dictionary entry. While we're at it, also throw something up about what an unlikely president he is. And maybe a quote--one of those goofy things Bush is known for saying. Two quotes, maybe? A dozen--let's go with a dozen. Is there still room for a picture of Bush wearing a dunce cap, and using a bomb as a pacifier? No? OK, we'll save that. I just hope this isn't too subtle."

I predict we will go to war, again, just so the Christians can have their Rapture.

The timing of this picture is impeccable.

He stole that poster. How funny is that? Other than the movie title I have that exact poster.

Three cheers for the bullshit liberal bias in Hollywood!
Hip, hip fuck you!

Uggh, Oliver Stone is a totally pretentious douchebag. Someone needs to tell him you're supposed to make biopics like YEARS after the relevant issue (or death). Stone's movies are complete crap. He hasn't made a good one since ... wait, give me a minute. Ok, I give up, he's never made a good movie.

It is kind of unoriginal that he ripped off the same poster that is in every dormroom in every college in the country.
I know this isn't the place for political commentary, but if you voted for that brain-dead baboon, you should probably be thrown into traffic. Or at least raped with a sledgehammer

@ bedot, we could always leave them to the mercy of the Christmas critters.

clever. but perhaps too clever?

@6 & 7 Aren't you a bit premature in your criticisms of Obama voters?
10. Colin - June 5, 2008 2:14 PM
I am SO SICK of the guy who writes for this blog. Dude, you're NOT FUNNY and you're not CLEVER! Clearly you're not the same guy who writes for the superficial. Its funny because I LOVE movies and I hate celeb gossip, however I find the superficial fun to read and this blog, well....I always wish I'd slammed my face in a door instead of reading the shit you type.

#10 (Colin): If you hate this blog so much, why not take five minutes on a search enging to find a movie blog you enjoy?
Also, Spectreman, I'm glad to know you're comparing a black man to a baboon in the twenty-first century. It's that kind of forward-thinking we really need!
12. Spectreman - June 5, 2008 3:01 PM
@11 ooooh looky. A Liberal playing the race card.
You crazy guys are soooo lucky this election - You can call bush a monkey (as you have for the last 8 years) and when some one challenges you, you cry racism because Balack Obama is 1/2 non white.
Oh there I go again, with my racist distractions that do nothing to help Michelle's kids pay for piano lessons..
13. Brandon - June 5, 2008 3:05 PM
We need a real black man for president anyway. Vote for Alan Keyes!

This might win best comedy at the Oscars...

What I don't understand is how Hollywood can throw millions at a drug-addled, unreliable hack like Oliver Stone AGAIN and hope to see some of that cash come back. He spent $50 million on "Nixon" and got back $5 or $15 million. His movies get discredited faster than Dan Rather's reporting.
Bush haters didn't go see a movie where they could watch him get shot down last year ("Death of a President" or whatever that was called) and Bush lovers wouldn't trust Oliver Stone with a camcorder in a Girls Gone Wild video...so who's going to see this?
16. Snoodle - June 5, 2008 7:53 PM
Poster isn't nearly as clever as it thinks it is....agreed a single 'W' would have been better....or even if you gotta keep the text, have it ghosted in the back and cut out the stupid 'dub-ya noun' part...

I need that poster for my art room....
I like the dub-ya part....

I cannot stand Oliver Stone and his bullshit movies. I don't even like Bush, but that doesn't mean I want to be shown two and a half hours (standard Stone movie running time... or maybe that's just what it feels like) of what a jackass fuckup Bush is. What would actually be interesting is if someone dared to make a non-biased biopic of George W. Well, interesting in theory, maybe not actually to watch. But unfortunately Oliver Stone is the polar opposite of integrity in filmmaking... as well as watchability in filmmaking.

I can't wait to see the critics falling all over themselves to tell us how unbiased it is, whether they like it or not, trust me, this movie will be so 'fair and honest.'
Besides that, good lord, how is it going to end? Are they going to speculate who wins the next election? Are they going to real quick film a couple scenes to keep it all current? I just hope they film some more scenes for the DVD release, you know, like an alternate ending or something...once they have more information.
20. Amphetadex - June 5, 2008 11:39 PM
@12: I just found it funny you were inadvertently calling him a baboon. I found it ironic. And ya know what, even the Republican party is turning its collective back on Bush at this point. So I wouldn't be surprised if there are a good number of Republicans going to see this movie, too.
Also, I still think JFK is a great movie. And I do understand it is historical fiction and I can't take it as a documentary. Either way, I find it to be a wonderfully made film, and thoroughly entertaining.

for once, a poster that portrays a true depiction of what it is advertising!
this movie will be crap
