Jun 25 2008More 'G.I. Joe' Banners, Important Parts Marked in Red

gi-joe-snakeeyes-baroness.jpg

It looks like the color scheme for G.I. Joe banner campaign is officially "black & white, with a dab of red drawing the eye to the least significant thing possible." These are the second and third posters (after this one!) highlighting a small feature on a weapon, and I'm starting to worry these details are being focused on because they're the best parts of the movie. G.I. Joe's goal is get a critic to say, "A ludicrous plot, wooden acting, and insane dialogue couldn't detract from the highly-detailed knobs, switches, and stripes adorning most of the weaponry. I still think Sienna Miller was the wrong choice for the Baroness... =(

free movies? awesome... I want free movies please...

Baroness looks like that Jen chick from Big Brother. The one that cried when they revealed the pictures on the wall. No? kill me

Actually, the Snake-Eyes one has the symbol for his ninja clan highlighted in red. That is actually an important aspect of the old G.I. Joe storyline. I have no idea if it's going to be important in the movie, but it does at least have a little more significance than some random dial or switch on the other peoples' guns, which is really, really dumb.

Is it just my imagination, or is The Baroness wearing a mask that's just lips, chin and nose? It's like her lower jaw and nose were hideously deformed (probably while servicing Destro's "chrome gearshifter") and she has to wear half of a fake face to stay hot.

@5 - Actually, she's wearing rimless glasses, although I like your explanation better. Bifocals, anyone?

I wonder if they'll have a teaser poster of Destro, and highlight in red the fact that he's a normal, if greasy-looking, guy in a suit who will always be better known as The Ninth Doctor and even better known--let's be honest--as the bad guy with a hard-on for furniture in Gone In Sixty Seconds.

yup, actually that "insignificant" row of red stripes on snake eyes sword is actually the symbol of the Arashikage ninja clan that's an extremely important part of both snake eyes and storm shadows characters as well as the entire GI Joe universe as a whole.

I don't know, but I think these posters kind of rock. I love the black and white scheme, and think the splash of red really intensifies the action they are trying to get across. I don't think you can ever go wrong with G.I. Joe, unless maybe you do an entire poster in camo. Much props.

You can tell a movie is going to be bad when EVERY character from the movie gets their OWN poster MONTHS before the movie comes out. At least they dont also have their own quotes or catchphrases attached under the movies subtitle. Ugh. And I know I'm inexplicably alone on this one but... I hate Snake Eyes. Always have. He's a stupid cliche. Oooh, a mute ninja! Never heard of the before... in the EIGHTIES. "Many wonder if he can even talk at all." Personally I'm glad he can't talk, imagaine the inane crap that would spew from his mouth, like mystical zen (yawn) wisdom (snore). Yes it was the 80's. We were flying on wings of ninjas and cocaine. But maybe a little too close to the sun.
