Jun 9 2008'Madagascar 2' Trailer Wisely Focuses on Single Memorable Element of Original

It's official: Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is basing its entire ad campaign (and its title?) on the Reel 2 Real hit single "I Like to Move It." First came the lyrics-brandishing poster; now there's a trailer that's at least half dancing to the 14-year-old house track, the animals strangely sexualized as they shake their butts towards the camera wearing nothing but self-satisfied grins. It's disturbing at several levels, and it makes me hate them for liking to move it. In fact, they're going to regret telling me how much they like to move it, because right now, having just endured a full minute of them fulfilling their desire to move it, my mind is fixated on a single goal: whatever it takes, stop them from moving it.

I think I'm going to start a new trailer rating system based on how many times I need to pause the video, hold my head in my hands and sigh to make it through. This one gets a 3. (Thanks to Kyle for the tip.)

It is not all to bad. Anyone who goes to a kids movie expecting glorified amounts of awesome is just asking for a bad time. Not something I would normally pay to see but I will likely take my sisters, they enjoyed the first.

I disagree with the previous poster.

This trailer just enrages me.

Goddamn that song.

I don't have any kids and I don't know any either so I don't want shit to do with this crap. But when the oxygen masks dropped down AFTER the crash, I literally LOLzed and coffee came out of my nose!!!!! I hope they never stop doing that.

I think you're my soulmate.

I liked the penguins and thats all. So I will probably enjoy a total of 5 minutes of this movie.

This movie isn't for people over the age of 5, so simmer down.

The last time you posted about this, I watched the movie again with my 7-year old and had a great time. I'm opposed to sequels in general, but the odds of my seeing this are close to 100% so there's no point complaining. The animation is excellent and it will hopefully be under 90 minutes.

I love renting these movies; the kids love 'em, and I finally get 1.5 hours of blissful nap time. Win/win.

And, apparently single chicks from cheesy interweb dating sites love it, so maybe I can get lucky too. I'd skip a nap for that.

As a father of 3 I understand the need of a movie to have something catchy to attract and keep the attention of kids, but for the love of God, does it have to be a shitty song? Toy Story managed to be a tolerable feature without resorting to a lame ass club song that my kids would start singing every time they see a flippin' ad on a cereal box at the grocery store. Pixar makes films that are enjoyable for kids and adults, why can't other studios do the same?

Pixar manages to make movies who are funny on a double level: both for adults and for kids, without offending either. Dreamworks hasn't even come close to that.
As for the song.... ENOUGH already...

lol @ the penguin saying, "don't look doll" to the little dashboard doll. They are the best part of the movie.

Helloooo spinoff!

Oh and since when are lemurs or ringtail tooters or whatever those things are Indian?

why....

me encantóla peli fue muy dibertida chau !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
