Jun 26 2008'Kung Fu Panda 2' Being Made, Will Probably be Called 'Fu 2' or Something
Alright. Since it's now received many glowing reviews and ended up with a respectable 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, maybe I was wrong about Kung Fu Panda. While I'll still never see it, perhaps it isn't a black & white turd thrown at cinema walls with the hope that the familiar voices of celebrities will pacify you until the animated poop can streak its way down into a waiting DVD case. (I never actually said this, but I thought it.) But a sequel!? From the Animation Guild blog:
But down on the lower levels, artists are working. A story crew has started early work in Kung Fu Panda, the Sequel, even while animators are hand-drawing new material for the DVD of Kung Fu Panda, the original.
This is definitely going to be a black & white turd thrown at cinema walls with the hope that the familiar voices of celebrities will pacify you until the animated poop can streak its way down into a waiting DVD case.

I'd say that KFP is one of Dreamwork's better efforts which is not saying much.
Still forgettable and the camera work reminds me of stuff that kids would put together on home video after watching Kung Fu Action Theatre.
And why can't they hire voice actors?
Seth Rogen, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Angelina Jolie were horrible as voice `talent` if you want to call it that.
Jack Black and Hoffman were good.

I still haven't seen this but based on what i could gather from the trailers, it seems as formulaic as any other Pixar movie. I kinda stopped watching these cartoon movies (with a few exceptions) after I saw Disney's the Hunchback of Notredam. Never has an author received such a violent raping from a huge company before Victor Hugo. . . IMO

More than likely it will be called Kung-Two Panda.

Julian,
I think Pocahontas was the first straw of mediocrity from Disney after Little Mermaid then Hunchback was the final blow. Man, that was horrible.
I'd say that if you like superheroes and The Tick, The Incredibles is pretty good.
Ratatouille is also a good film. The rest follow formula.

I give you props for finally admitting that this movie isn't as bad as you thought it was going to be (although I still don't understand how anyone can judge a movie without seeing it), but I'd have to agree with you that a sequel doesn't bode well. Maybe they'll make it a straight to DVD release, so I can save the money from taking my kids to the box office to see it and get some extra snacks at the rental place instead.

How is a sequel automatically a bad idea or a bad sign? Shrek 2 and Toy Story 2 were awesome. And why is anyone bringing up Pocahontas or Hunchback of Notre Dame?

@4: WTF? Hunchback of Notre Dame was one of my all-time favorites. You're full of shiite.
