May 12 2008'Visioneers' Trailer: Why Have I Heard Nothing of This Until Now?
At first glance, this looks like a standard, American Beauty-esque average-guy-on-the-edge story set to a Jon Brion score. But then you notice it stars Zach Galifianakis and Judy Greer, deals with the issue of people spontaneously exploding, hints at possible George Washington past-life memories, and shows a covert breast grab and tons and tons of flick-offing, and you realize this might actually be everything you've ever wanted.

"set to a Jon Brion score"
More like, "wannabe Jon Brion score". "Honest to blog", if I see another preview for a movie using 70's clothing as a crutch/prop, I'm going to get fat and throw temper tantrums till someone makes a movie about me.

Movie looks... no clue... but Zach Galifianakis is decidedly awesome. If you have Netflix, check out his special which you can 'Watch Instantly' - totally worth it.

any movie involving past lives of former presidents gets five thumbs up from me!

awww, davis!
the fact that the trailer never "takes off" from its low-key mood into something grander (read: louder and stupider) is surely a good sign. the plot, or at least the elements that we know about, seem just strange enough to work without being, again, loud and stupid.
i'll be looking forward to this one.

Could be memorable if hte pace is right and it doesn't take itself too seriously.
I WIN!!

Not so much American Beauty, but definitely cribbing all over Charlie Kaufman's notes -- and lensed in Jonze -or Gondry-O-Rama.

seems like The Weatherman with Nicholas Cage (one of his two good movies). show me more.

The score is by Tim DeLaughter of The Polyphonic Spree, so it'll probably be simultaneously uplifting and depressing. (See also: the score to Thumbsucker.)
