May 7 2008The Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Poster

star-wars-clone-wars-poster.jpg

This poster seems to portray four robed characters, equipped with glowing swords, hip-deep in star wars. Behind them, a group of small, near-identical characters appear to also be warring, possibly in a sub-war of the larger, aforementioned star war. As evidence of previous epic battles, the tile floor is scuffed.

Really, what's with the polygons?!

Even an animated Hayden Christensen looks wooden!

who is the red alien chick behind Obi-wan???

Where's Drew Struzan's poster??????

If this is going to be a STAR WARS film, we NEED Drew's artwork adorning the poster

I'm looking forward to this, but it's just another sorry reminder that Lucas really missed a HUGE opportunity to show the Clone Wars in the Prequel trilogy.

'Oh, we have this really cool war, with Clones and everything, but we'll just skip it in the films and turn it into a cartoon afterwards'

Seriously Mr Lucas, WTF!!?!?!??!?!??!?!??!??!?!?!

Is Pat O'Brien guest writing for I Watch Stuff?

and the dead horse beating continues

obviously Cooper is not aware of storytelling. There was too much stuff to deal with in the prequels. Mr. Lucas wanted to have more in the films but the films would of been hours longer. He decided to just focus on the Skywalker storyline.
Seriously Cooper, WTF.

i will only see this movie if they have aayla secura, if not, then no thanks.

How to spot a nerd #58:

Refers to creator of Star Wars/Indiana Jones as "Mr. Lucas"

umm.....

This looks so awful.....

Munesh I'm hugely aware of storytelling. I'm also hugely aware of what a shit story Lucas strummed up for Episodes 1 & 2 (I'll forgive him for 3).

Christ, a whole film wasted on Anakin when he was a kid when we could have watched en enormous battle.

Got me Jesse :)

To me, this looks incredible. I saw the shit bootleg version of the trailer online and that looked like it's in keeping with what we saw at Celebration last year. Amazing (and unusual) design, incredible action, good strong story. (Don't try to tell me that "finding stolen plans" is a very enthralling story if just laid out like that.)

Of course, I'm one of those non-apologists who liked the prequels and fully admits to seeing "Phantom Menace" five times in the theaters. It wasn't "Star Wars," the original, but what could be? I took it as the story Lucas wanted to tell, and found it good, "Attack of the Clones" to be interesting in its development of the plot (but, yeah, not such a great romance) and "Sith" to be extraordinary in just about every way.

If you can grasp this, "wooden" is what Lucas WANTED Anakin to be -- someone unformed, malleable, who didn't understand his feelings. He was childish ... and also a great hero with a tragic flaw. That's what I'm looking forward to seeing fleshed out here in these stories.

I may even go see "Speed Racer," even though it looks stupid, just to see THIS on the big screen. I can only imagine it's going to look amazing up there rather than on a computer. It's definitely different ... but that's what everyone's been complaining "Star Wars" needs to be, and once they finally get it ... they complain some more. I'm unapologetic. "Clone Wars" looks incredible in my book.

This poster is wonderful because I read the title as STAR THE CLONE WARS WARS
