As mentioned yesterday, Richard Kelly's cult hit Donnie Darko has managed to infect many a college campus movie night with its particular brand of "that shit's fucked up, man." But that's not enough for him. How can he get to those few remaining hold-outs that "don't get it"? What to do about the dorm rooms that still prefer a Big Lebowski? (That's still big, right?) Kelly finally has the answer: get Arcade Fire to score his next film. Surely marrying those college chart toppers and more of his signature "fucked up shit" will make his newest thriller the talk of the quad. It should also help that it's called The Box. You know what that means, braw.

Oh I know exactly what it means. It means I get to put my junk in The Box. Awww yeaaaah.

This is fantastic news. Southland Tales was horrible, but I have high hopes for this film.

yes big lebowski is still big. actually it's more post-modern to not like donnie darko because of its overarching attempts to be edgy, so the edgy college student thinks it is lame.

Aw, fucking seriously. The Arcade Fire are to (for instance) Sigur Ros as (for instance) The Butterfly Effect is to Donnie Darko. By which I mean to say that even in the boring-things-kids-like-so-as-to-look-sophistimicated stakes, The Arcade Fire are fucking bush league.

And yes, I did just use the word "the" twice JUST to piss off kids who like The Butterfly Effect.

Arcade Fire boring? Not bloody likely. Maybe they're not as good as Sigur Ros or some other look-which-obscure-name-I'll-drop-to-make-myself-seem-superior band, but as far as new music is concerned, they're one of the best groups out there right now.
