Apr 21 2008'Spirit' NYCC Promo: Eva Mendes is Sand Seref?

I think the largest obstacle Frank Miller's adaptation of The Spirit will have the overcome is that, although the title is undoubtedly a classic, it's not particularly well known to modern audiences. People are still wondering, what's it all about? I think this new character poster promo photo should clear up a lot of that confusion: it's about a sexy, voguing bobsled team.

The foreshortening in that poster make Mendes look like her arm is retarded.

The largest obstacle is that Eva can't act.

Eva Mendes is a font?

The more I see from this movie, the less I want to see it. Miller hasn't done anything good in ten years, and besides, this looks like a lame Sin City ripoff, which is not the vibe I get from Eisner's books.

Mella, I was logging in to say pretty much that same thing.
Ug, who in the art dept let that one through.

Yeah. She's still pretty hot though. At the end of the day, there might be a mysterious plot that no one can figure out and she might have a gimpy arm, but damn, it's still pleasing to look at.

I think this movie is going to be great - Eva will do just fine.

Don't mind the arm, where's her second leg?!

...and there went any fleeting urge to see this film.

Could they not have thought of a better position for Eva - one arm is wonked, the other is missing, and one leg is just not there O_o Screw perspective....she looks like a paraplegic.

Jean Reno IS Cyril Icke!
Vincent Cassell IS Francois "The Eye" Tellick!
WITH
Michael Chiklis as the voice of "BoldFace"!

I'm strangely excited about this one.

She looks like she escaped from the Fantastic Four movie. Not very film noir.
