Apr 7 2008Newton and Gruffudd Appropriately Join 'W' Cast

Oliver Stone, continuing his trend of not-at-all glamorizing his George W. Bush biopic, has cast Thandie Newton and Ioan Gruffudd as Condoleeza Rice and Tony Blair, respectively. As you may recall, they join a cast that already confusingly includes Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush and Josh Brolin as W himself.

Clearly the announcement of Jessicas Alba and Biel as the Bush daughters can't be far behind, but who do you think Stone will go with for Cheney? I'd say smart money is on a bald-capped George Clooney.

I'm seeing David Huddleston as dick Cheney, since they basically came from the same zygote.

George Costanza as Cheney!

Politics aside, it will be interesting to see Thandie play Condi. She's one of my favorite actresses. It's a shame that she never caught on in the states.

Cheney will be played by Russell Crowe.... put him right back in his 'The Insider' get up with a nice norelco graze on the nothern hemisphere and you've got the second in command right there.. Seriously, Crowe is fantastic about playing roles in which emotions are distant from the characters motivations and drives. Those damn beady eyes too.

Sweet Lord in heaven!! Thandie Newton as Condoleeza Rice?? In Rice's dreams maybe! This film is slightly beginning to remind me of the final hollywoodized biographical rendition of animated Chicken Little's falling acorn story...everyone appears hotter, glossier, and with a tidal wave of the sensational!
