Apr 3 2008McConaughey Might Wear Hawaiian Shirt, Mustache

Who does Matthew McConaughey think he is? The question has plagued me for some time as I watched the mop-haired bongo player gallivanting around various beach locals, always shirtless, always care-free, seemingly unaware that he is nearly the last of the dying breed of "The Hunk." At long last, we may finally have the answer: he might think he's Magnum P.I.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the actor has been offered the role of mustachioed private investigator Thomas Magnum in Dodgeball writer/director Rawson Thurber's adaptation of the campy '80s series. McConaughey had been rumored for the role before, but I guess now it's more official. Nothing to do now but anxiously wait and see if he'll accept the part, and if his torso will accept a Hawaiian shirt.

Campy?

You, Matthew McConaughey, are no Tom Selleck. That mustache is an icon. A scraggly strawberry blond lipwig will do Magnum P.I. no justice.

The best part of Magnum P.I. was the impossibly advanced video games he played. I hope the new movie carries this tradition forward.

I *completely* agree with you, #2.

Matthew McConaughey is basically the OPPISITE of Tom Selleck in every way, and he's VERY far from Tom Selleck and Thomas Magnum.
Apparently they're going to go back and ruin Magnum P.I. by turning it into a modern Hollywood film, too. It's very awful to see lots of old, classic, cool things being crapped on by remakes and such.

P.S.: I also agree with #1. Campy?

The American Mustache Institute (www.AmericanMustacheInstitute.org) is aghast that Matthew McConaughey has been offered the lead role in Magnum P.I. This is a crucial film for mustached Americans and we need a true representative of the mustache culture to carry this torch for Tom Selleck.

Matthew McConaughey would look good in a Hawaiian shirt as long as it is not the same design Tom Selleck wore.

Pfft, he wouldn't look good in any Hawaiian shirt, *especially* the one(s) Tom Selleck wore.
