Apr 7 2008Charlton Heston Dead at 84

Since he's been in a few notable movies--Ben-Hur, the Bible one, Wayne's World 2--I thought it only right that I mention the death of actor Charlton Heston. The Oscar-winning actor passed away Saturday night in his Beverly Hills home after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Though in recent years he came to be known more as a gun nut than a respected actor, there is no doubting his enormous contribution to cinema history. For example, that scene in Wayne's World 2 where Wayne breaks character to demand a better actor in the small part, and effin' Charlton Heston comes in to fill the role!

The LA Times has written a thorough remembrance of his work in films, TV, and theater that's worth reading. Or, below the cut, you can just watch that scene from Wayne's World 2 instead.

How utterly immature. But I expect that the author of such a childish mock-obituary will savor the criticism until he goes back to playing with his crayons.

Meh. I liked your obit on The Superficial better.

LOL @ that first commenter getting all huffy and het up.

too bad in his old age he became a right wing gun nut

Lots of angry folks here.Charlton Heston was a hollywood great..There has been far too much emphasis on his 'nra' beliefs,(and virtually nothing on his civil rights and other worthwhile causes). Not to mention that he was a great actor on film and stage.Maybe some posters here should keep their asinine and bitter ramblings for someone who deserves it .God knows there are plenty of targets with todays 'celebrities'

Mr Heston was a giant of a man on screen and off, always polite and gave respect to those that were quick to critisise his belief's but is not that freedom he fought for in human rights campaign's?
He will be remembered for the good old fashioned family films that sadly are not made to-day, Ben Hur El Cid Classics.
No other actor had his range of roles he was always value for money what you saw is what you got a Star. sweet dreams and thank you for many happy hours sat in front of the big screen..victor

Where the hell is a mention of Planet of the Apes? Oh look, he was in the Wayne's World sequel! HAW HAW HAW! So he gets mostly marginalized! That's what he gets for liking guns, that dead bitch!

Guns kick ass.
