Mar 7 2008Seinfeld Making His Own 'Curb'

After Jerry Seinfeld's departure from his NBC series, years of shamelessly recycling the same jokes he made in 1990 finally culminated with an assaulting campaign for a mediocre animated movie. And I hoped, having seen that Larry David was clearly the talent in the duo, perhaps Seinfeld would again retreat under the shadow of his wife's cookbook, leaving no evidence he had ever emerged save for a faint yellow and black-striped blob permanently burned in my retina.

Unfortunately, it sounds like this might not be the case. According to the always-reputable Page Six, the Bee Movie hawker is in talks with NBC for a new series being described as "just like Curb Your Enthusiasm, but with Jerry, instead of Larry."

Just keep latching on to Larry's talent, Jerry. Maybe, since it's on network TV, those without HBO or DVD players won't notice you riding his coattails like a bicycle. I'd really like to know what L.D. thinks about this.

UPDATE: It turns out Page Six isn't the paragon of journalism I thought it was, and the report is false. Good job debunking, Chaz.

larry's probably going to show up on jerry's show and kick his ass....hmm.......maybe that's already been done on 'Curb.'

I'd say that Larry and Curb are overrated, but that would imply that on some level there's something good about them.

Patrick: go watch "Two and a Half Men"

LOL. A lot of criticism over a show that is even out yet. No it won't be as good as Seinfeld was. I doubt anything will ever be quite like Curb Your Enthusiasm, whether that is good or bad. And yes it will probably be a typical sitcom that has been done before. Big surprise. Newhart was never as good as the Bob Newhart Show. The second Cosby show sucked, but then so did his first series. And I will go on record and say that Joey was way funnier than Friends, which doesn't say much for Friends. And lets face it, the Lucille Ball show paled compared to I Love Lucy (Stupid Mr. Mooney). So, we should issue an ultimatum; one decent series is all anyone ever gets, then forced retirement. No, better yet, internment. Yeah, we'll have a camp where we send all the washed up actors. We can rehabilitate them as food service industry workers or something.

Thank God! I was afraid that no talent hack was coming back!

Maybe we'll all luck out and he will just retire to some tropical location and all his whining will be just a distant memory. (-sigh-) Nah...we're never THAT lucky.
