Mar 13 2008'Incredible Hulk' Trailer
Judging by its trailer, The Incredible Hulk may not go down as the franchise watershed moment that Batman Begins was--in fact, I'm pretty positive it won't. But at least it's got a couple giant green freaks fighting each other in the streets of Manhattan, and that's something. Hopefully it won't go the Ang Lee route and include comic panel transitions, lest we momentarily forget we're watching a comic book turned into a movie. If you didn't catch it on every single Viacom station last night, watch the new trailer, below the cut.

First!!
Video doesn't Work!
2. A person - March 13, 2008 12:42 PM
Second?
Erm, yeah... VIDEO NOT ACCESSIBLE.
I was on set while this was being shot on Yonge St. in downtown Toronto, Ontario. A BUS EXPLODED. IT WAS SWEET.
But yeah, that's it.
3. proteon - March 13, 2008 12:43 PM
Your comic pane transision comment was sub par at best.
4. A person - March 13, 2008 12:52 PM
Also, if you look close in the trailer elsewhere, you'll see a sign that says "Zanzibar".
That's the biggest strip club in Toronto. ;D
5. Snoodle - March 13, 2008 1:15 PM
In which, even Ang Lee starts laughing......."as far as I'm concerned that man's whole body is the property of the US Army".....it died, right there. Oi. And that new super fabulous Hulk design.....looking pretty much like the old not so super fabulous Hulk design >.>'''
6. Jeremy - March 13, 2008 1:21 PM
Awesome! Another cgi hulk. At least when he hit the ground he didn't do that Blade pose where he uses one arm to help stop the fall while looking down at the ground. I think everybody who jumps down more than 10 feet in any movie does this pose, but the hulk fell into the ground. That shit was the bomb.
I'm all for Tim Roth and Edward Norton getting paid, but I think I cringed through the whole trailer.
7. Drbendy - March 13, 2008 1:22 PM
Oh dear it looks as bad as the old one, the script smells like a bad one and the Armageddonesque Tyler smooching, well lets just say Edward Norton better have a HBO tv series up his sleeve.
8. Interslicery - March 13, 2008 1:39 PM
ehhh. I'll go see it, but doesnt look anything special. I love the amount of detail they put into the hulks muscles and bulging veins though
9. PB&J - March 13, 2008 1:45 PM
Norton & Tyler?!?! What are studios doing for casting now...just drawing names out of a hat?
10. Charles - March 13, 2008 1:49 PM
If Norton Liv Tyler, and, to a lesser extent the much underrated Tim Roth, weren't in this, I'd assume it was straight to video.
11. SlowMonkey - March 13, 2008 2:00 PM
It looks great to me but I cheated and watched the trailer somewhere else.
12. emily - March 13, 2008 2:14 PM
The CGI is atrocious, but the acting should be better than the Eric Bana one... Hooray for Tim Roth!
13. Spam Artist - March 13, 2008 2:58 PM
Graham Norton will be guest starring.
14. rory - March 13, 2008 3:40 PM
Actually (though I'm sure its meant to be Manhattan) those are def the streets of Toronto!! Zanzibar!! Everyone's favourite titty bar! Not really but its def Tdot!! haha You see some Sam the Record man there too!!
15. Oscar - March 13, 2008 3:45 PM
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
16. Snoodle - March 13, 2008 4:46 PM
Lol @ Spam Artist XD
17. flying meat - March 13, 2008 5:53 PM
Is it just me or does Liv tyler look like she has downs? I always picture her wiping drool off her chin after ever take.
Also maybe they will throw a curve ball at us with the plot and Ed will take his shirt of and have a big swatzstika on his chest and then hulk out and Abomination really represents the black man. Not sure where the green fits in to this plot.
18. jr - March 13, 2008 5:59 PM
good god....
Norton fell off my list of brilliant actors when the illusionist came out
19. Metabug - March 13, 2008 6:03 PM
The CGI doesn't look finished, they were probably just rushed out for the trailer. The hulk looks like he lost some weight around waist and got himself a hair stylist.
And I thought the comic book transitions in the first movie was brilliant. Some of the transitions they came up with are the best I had ever seen =P
20. Chuck - March 13, 2008 6:09 PM
I love it and can't wait. It will be awesome. No wonder it is going unnoticed since everyone is wanking off over Ironwoman.
21. jr - March 13, 2008 6:09 PM
The CGI for the last hulk movie actually was pretty damn good considering its like 8 years old and holds up much stronger to this piece of junk cgi pass at the hulk.
22. Tim Drake - March 13, 2008 6:46 PM
I think we can all agree that anyone who disliked the Ang Lee version of the Hulk has (a) no idea about what makes a good movie, (b) no idea what the Hulk is about and (c) no idea what they're talking about, period. Agreed? Perfect, discussion settled. Let's move on.
This trailer is - shall I go there? - incredibly underwhelming. I will say, however, that it is incredibly refreshing to see a studio completely disregard the concept of competent acting when casting a major motion picture. I think the results are simply... what am I'm looking for here? Incredibly bad.
23. 420 - March 13, 2008 8:07 PM
Ooh, italics, you must know what you're talking about.
I love Edward Norton, and I think that his style of acting will give audiences (especially those unfamiliar with the franchise) a different style to the Hulk - as opposed to just mindless rage.
I'm looking forward to this!
24. NecroVMX - March 13, 2008 8:26 PM
Tim, you couldn't have said it better. The last hulk movie was a great piece of film-making and it did what the comics do, it was an intense character study.
This one...It looks like the people who hated "Hulk" are getting the big dumb action movie they wanted.
But the numbers don't lie. "Hulk" bombed but those awful Fantastic Four movies rake it in. People LIKE stupid shit.
25. Lokuzt - March 13, 2008 8:41 PM
I agree with NecroVMX. I knew Ang Lee's Hulk was going to bomb whe I saw it... because it was not the conventional comic book hero to action movie adaptation but a tense psychological drama featuring comic book characters and elements. Which was good.. albeit strange.
FF was AWFUL. I refused to see the sequel after watching the trailer, and wondered why on earth were people willingly gave their money to watch it.
But... even if this Hulk is dumbed down, I guess Abomination is a better enemy that absorbing man. Ye gods, even the name is dumb. "absorbing man" .... sheesh
26. Nature - March 13, 2008 9:40 PM
if that thing came by ma house - I kill it!
27. Chuck - March 13, 2008 9:46 PM
Ed will make the movie excellent. I don't care what you all say you haters. He fkn rocks. Tim Roth is awesome to. Go Hulk!
28. Gink - March 13, 2008 9:56 PM
This was directed by Tyler Perry. It also reminded me of the original Fantastic Four made in the 90's. Ang Lee is going to do homo hulk after this.
29. Curious - March 14, 2008 2:44 AM
Does his junk grow bigger too? How does Liv handle a 3 foot dong?
30. mac - March 14, 2008 10:26 AM
looks so so at best
31. Jay Booty - March 14, 2008 4:34 PM
WTH !
This does not even look close to the original......Norton as the Hulk makes as much sense as Dakota Fanning playing She-Hulk. This is going to be HOR-REE-BULL !
I was an AVID Hulk comic book fan, and because they did not use Bana in the second one, this makes it looks like they are just firing gamma radiation around at every 7-11.
Wow !....They have ran out of ideas in Hollywood like Nike has ran out of new designs
32. nameok - March 14, 2008 8:24 PM
looks worse than first one...
33. jim - March 15, 2008 4:50 PM
Wasn't there a hulk movie 2-3 years ago already what the fuck is up with that?Same fucking name.
34. erin - March 16, 2008 8:02 PM
I cannot see Ed Burns as the Hulk...Its too weird. The trailer doesn't look all that good. I think it will be one that I will pass on.
35. kt - March 18, 2008 12:44 PM
is anyone else annoyed by the fact that the hulk runs past zanzibar twice toward the end?
come one people! continuity matters!!
36. rob - March 18, 2008 3:34 PM
I thought that this trailer was not appealing, however there were some good aspects - do not judgea book by it's cover.
Although the CGI was not excellent, i thought that th hulk loked pretty good, but god! The abonmination truly is an abomination - looks like something out of Doctor freakin' Who!
I like Tim Roth as the villain and Edward Norton - they are both excellent actors - fact
I say don't make an exact decission yet - it is just a trailer...
37. rob - March 18, 2008 3:41 PM
(PS: i am not annoyed by the fact that the hulk runs past zanzibar twice toward the end, however this is a big and quite frankly stupid mistake - wake up!)
38. wiseman - March 18, 2008 3:44 PM
Bang on
39. rob - March 18, 2008 5:05 PM
Unfortunately, the trailer leaves little to be desired for. The movie looks a bit grittier than the last one, which is good, and the dramatic scenes could have impact with Norton at the wheel, but there’s just something about this trailer that doesn’t work. The setup for the introduction to the Hulk seems a bit cluttered and is not as exciting or suspenseful as it should have been. Of course, what really hurts are the scenes with the Hulk - and that’s not good.
Standing still, I think the Hulk looks pretty cool. I love the veins. However, in motion, neither he nor the villain (Tim Roth) look very good at all. The sequence is just cheesy; the two “creatures” running at each other in slow motion looks like something out of a video game. Right now, I’m still holding out hope, but this one looks like another box office dud.
40. shankyouverymuch - March 18, 2008 8:37 PM
Do you think that Hulky has a big green weenie too ?!? because that would help ed norton alot with the chicks.
41. confused - March 20, 2008 1:53 AM
didnt they already make a hulk movie?
42. Nate - March 22, 2008 5:00 AM
Hahaha I love the Yonge St. shot at the end. Sam's...Zanzibar...who are they trying to fool...
43. mr mo - March 24, 2008 9:48 AM

47. Meaghan - March 27, 2008 8:16 AM
#11. Smart stuff. I use the same philosophy at work, where I always pretend I'm working so whenever someone asks me to help out I can't because I'm busy doing this and that for so an so. Really I've not accomplished a single productive workplace thing in five years. Unless you count ranting here, then I'm the personification of productivity.
Also if anyone asks you to do chores (wife/husband, roomate, parents) do the chore as horribly as possible and they'll never ask you to do it again, they might even stop you half way through and say "nevermind I'll do it myself"
16 & 11, don't forget the other rule: Never, ever volunteer for anything. Once you do, you're viewed as a weak pushover that can be trod upon at will; therefore, just the person for every shit job/chore no one else will do. No one will appreciate you for it, you'll gain no reward, everyone will laugh at you behind your back, and you'll suffer endlessly. Remember, kids, no good deed goes unpunished.

Hulk was a far better movie than either FF movie, which were lame spins on Jessica Alba's ass, and treated one of the best comic characters ever, the Silver Surfer, like a bit player. Hulk took a while to get going, but the military scenes were some of the best I've seen anywhere, and the transitioning was innovative at the time, and much copied since. Sam Elliot's acting was the cheesiest in there, not Bana's. See him in Munich. He rules.

Number of Americans (the litmus test for a film's success; sorry World) who can immediately spot the difference between Manhattan and Toronto: 17
Number of Americas who know where Toronto is: 9
Number of Americans who know the names of local establishments in Toronto: 4
Number of Americans who care about this: 2 (and they're naturalized Americans, Martin Short and some hockey player)
