Feb 28 2008'Step Brothers' Trailer Brings Back the Idiot-Man-Child Genre

stepbrothers-trailer-ferrel.jpg

The trailer to Step Brothers has arrived, with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly effectively reinventing the strange partnership of two semi-retarded man-children that keeps you half-watching Dumb and Dumber when it's on cable (assuming that replacing fart jokes with shirtless jokes counts as reinvention). Surprisingly, and despite Ferrell again hamming it up with the usual shtick--this time marrying the childish naiveté of Elf and the assholeishness of Anchorman--it looks reasonably amusing. Probably worth watching once it replaces Dumb and Dumber on cable. Thanks for the tip, Kyle.

Hi I'm Will Ferrell. I say silly things with serious look on my face.

That.
Is.
It.

LOL get it? they're adults but they act like kids! ROFL that is so fucking hilarious I could shoot myself

i can't tell if this is dumb, dumber, or the dumbest fargin' piece of half-cooked anal discharge ever to be leeched from the cesspool that is hollywood.

note to everyone: please stop putting will ferrell in something that is supposed to be entertaining. thank you, management.

Didn't Will Arnett and Will Forte reinvent the strange partnership of two semi-retarded man-children?

SORRY SAD ASS M.F.ERS! It looks funny. And if you can't get a chuckle, you are NO SENSE OF HUMOR! SUCKS TO BE YOU!

*have :)

Fkn LAME!

Is Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams Come True" in every man-boy comedy preview?

...like that's really going to sell the movie to me. heh.

The bunk bed idea was pretty cool.

The bunk bed joke made me laugh. Too bad that was the only part of the trailer that did.

Ferrell should make "The Landlord - The Movie". I'd pay to see him have a 90 minute conversation with a foul-mouthed 2-year old. They'd be evenly matched.

I see why the bunk bed bit is funny now. I had seen it in perhaps hundreds of movies before but I didn't realize that the humor was in how the bunk bed broke and the person in the bottom bunk was smushed by the person in the top bunk. It's all so clear to me now, and very funny.

Aw, I didn't mind that. Comedies aren't supposed to be particularly sophisticated or reinvent the genre, they're just supposed to be fun.
