Jan 9 2008'Weather Girl' Adds CBS Primetime Lineup to Cast
Mark Harmon (NCIS) and Tricia O'Kelley (The New Adventures of Old Christine) have signed on to star in the indie romantic comedy Weather Girl, adding some coveted primetime CBS star power to the cast. Summary!
The film centers on a Seattle morning show weathergirl (O'Kelley) who, after learning her boyfriend (Harmon) has cheated on her, is fired after freaking out on-air. Forced to move in with her little brother and to cope with being 35, single and unemployed, she begins an unlikely romance with a younger man -- her brother's best friend.
You can already tell this will be a really progressive production by the use of the term "weathergirl" to describe a 35-year-old female meteorologist. I'm not some big PC stickler, but seriously, do people still say weathergirl? (I can't say it without reverting to an exaggerated old fashioney accent.)
Is the point that it's somewhat offensive and outdated? I didn't really get any of that from the summary. If so, I don't know why they wouldn't just go with "Schoolmarm", or maybe the more generic "Uptight Working Broad, Who's Probably a Lesbian Anyway".

This role will finally prove that Mark Harmon is not just the dad version of Tom Cruise.

For a minute, I was hoping they were making the Christine Chubbock story. Damn.
