'Prom Night' Trailer Sadder Than My Actual Prom Night
As much as I could rant about how awful this slasher remake looks, nothing embodies the overriding theme of Prom Night painfully unnecessary pop-punk cover of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" playing through the trailer. The point of it all seems to be "it's possible to re-do this, so why not?" With none of the campy '80s slasher fun of the original, this version instead focuses on the question of how old a man can be and still play a high schooler (about 30, it seems). Then again, with so much of the movie focusing on high school being the greatest time of one's life, the audience that agrees with that sad sentiment will probably be more than eager to see this pitiful remake, if only that gives them hope they too may one day get to "remake" that failed final play against the Jonesville Panthers.
Thanks for the tip, Kyle.
