Jan 25 2008'Prince Caspian' Adds Dreaminess, Smugness

You know what my biggest problem with the first The Chronicles of Narnia chapter was? Not enough luxuriously-haired teen heartthrobs. As will happen when watching a movie, my mind wandered to thoughts of "Why can't this be more like a fantasy-themed Tiger Beat?" With Prince Caspian, the second film in the series, it looks like they've corrected the issue, plus they've definitely added some satisfied smugness with this goat guy.

For those interested, more new Caspian shots here.

Being an actual fan of the books, I refuse to see any one of these movies. However, seeing the preview, I already wanted to punch the guy who plays Caspian in the face. Primarily because he pronounces his name with a shitty British accent as "Gaspian". If that's not reason enough to declare war on Narnia, I don't know what is.

After reading your blog I was amused that you decriped C.S. Lewis' book as fairly simplistic! Many poeple with advanced degrees in Theology share a view that Lewis' books are very deep, and carry ideas that really make us look through Lewis' eyes at the imponderables in Christianity; of the the nature of man, God; Who He is and why He does things the way he does, and the nature of the univery. (anthropology, theology, and cosmology) After reading a few other descriptions and blogs, I have become appalled that Yahoo would suggest such a site to it's My Yahoo subsribers. I shall make my feelings known to Yahoo.

OMG, Joealanb, let's not have anyone showing different opinions! That would be really bad! Yes, please tell Yahoo about this naughtiness.

The only complexity in the Narnia stories can be found by digging in too deeply and looking for implied meanings. You can find complexity THAT way in just about anything! The human imagination can come up with tons of deep philosophical crap related to every short story and poem ever written. But when taken at face value, Narnia does have a pretty simple story.

Back on topic, however, why the heck does Prince Caspian have a rapier/dagger combination? And look at that tattered chainmail! Where are his royal reds from the previous film? Is he going for the D&D style fighting-rogue? Thoguh not very Princely, that's actually kind of cool...

have you watched the first film? if you have then you will know that caspian wasn't in it. secondly, the film prince caspian as with the book, takes place thousands of years in the future, where a bad king has taken over and prince caspian doesn't have all the luxuries of such baubles. have you read the books? maybe you should if you haven't. c.s. lewis also meant for his books to reflect the bible in a way. the witch is satan, and aslan God. read the book with the Chronicles of Narnia from the beginning. the lion, the witch and the wardrobe was written first, but he went back and wrote a prequel that explains how narnia came to be. it explains alot.

You're all idiots, don't you know that goat-man would be on Satan's team? cloven hoof! hello?! This movie is so unrealistic.

I haven't read the books I admit. However I watched the movie and I get the impression it left a lot of deeper things the books have been said to have out. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I get.
