Jan 8 2008Little Man/White Chick Joins 'G.I. Joe'
Oftentimes when you're making a movie, you start asking your self some important, critical questions. Where in my film is the bitingly edgy satire of a Scary Movie? Where is the laugh-out-loud social commentary of White Chicks? Why isn't anyone a comically small crook? When this problem arises, fear not: simply cast a Wayans.
G.I. Joe producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has done just that, placing Marlon Wayans in the role of Ripcord, leader of the military unit, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in negotiations to play Duke Hauser's best friend (forever?).
As the least loathsome Wayans, I suppose if it had to be one, he's the best option (though I wouldn't have minded seeing a Major Payne revival by Damon, maybe as Sgt. Slaughter). But honestly, we're talking the G.I. Joe movie, directed by Stephen Sommers. Does it really even matter?

Based on the casting decisions made so far, I was actually getting semi-hyped about this movie.
THEN, we got Marlon Wayans as G.I. Joe leader Ripcord.
My problems with this are as follows...
1. Marlon Wayans is a comedic actor who isn't even good at being comedic. Based on his existing body of work, he's completely wrong for this film (unless, of course, they're taking the "Very Brady Movie" approach and bastardizing my beloved Joes)
2. Ripcord is white. (We've seen Marlon try to pull this off - it didn't work.)
3. Ripcord isn't the leader of the Joes.
Look, if Lorenzo (the same guy who thought the Superman movie would be better by taking away Superman's costume and ability to fly and adding gay robots) wants to make a movie where Marlon Wayans plays the wacky/goofy black leader of a military unit, I can get behind that; no problem. Just don't call the character 'Ripcord' and don't call the movie G.I. Joe.

My friend told me that i can find him on "wealthybeauty.com". Has anyone find him yet on that site? I saw your profile there few weeks ago. It's said he is interested in dating some beautiful woman there.
It's said she is interested into dating wealthy young guys there.
you are an idiot! He is dating someone currently on "wealthybeauty.com".

Um... yeah... Ripcord is a bit player, at best. He's not the leader of the Joes. That's not even Duke. That would be General Hawk. Duke is his second-in-command.
They've missed the mark horribly with this one... granted, it IS based on GI Joe...

You know... I'd laugh at this casting, but then if you've seen him in Requiem For A Dream, you'd know he can act when he has the right material, so he _could_ be OK in this. The bigger problem is that MummyMan Sommers is directing. Ugh.
