Jan 22 2008Heath Ledger Found Dead
According to several news sources, Heath Ledger has been found dead in SoHo this afternoon, pills near the bed the likely cause thus far. The 28-year-old actor was already winning praised for his role in the eagerly-awaited Batman sequel, and was shooting The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus with Terry Gilliam. This is incredibly tragic, and makes me feel really, really bad about this.

Wow.. I can't believe this. He was way too young to die, and I really would have expected Britney or Lindsay Lohan to have OD'd first..
This sucks.

I can;t make a joke... this is horrible. her was an awesome actor who took interesting roles... But this indeed proves Gilliam is CURSED.

My brother was on the same flight as Ledger and family from London - NY last year. He said how lovely they were and what a nice guy Ledger was.
His daughter is the same age as mine. This is incredibly sad.

Sad as it is...if he did OD then he is a coward...if it was an accident then very sad...
not sure what it is with celebs and drugs...looking for attention or whatever but I really dont get the point

This is tragic. A part of me is praying this is some elaborate stunt that we will all hate the people responsible for, but I know that it is so... This is terrible.

Holy tragic suicide, Batman!
8. Billy - January 22, 2008 5:40 PM
He was an awesome actor, I can't believe the Joker is DEAD!! R.I.P. Heath. and I agree, I would have expected this news from Britney, Lindsey, Amy Winehouse, etc, but not him.
9. Ben - January 22, 2008 5:44 PM
Wow.. one of the finest actors of our generation. What a tragedy. What a terrible loss to movies this is. RIP Heath.
10. Mark - January 22, 2008 5:48 PM
Thats sad.. I agree with the Britney comment I expected that ho to od, commit suicide, etc. before we lost another celeb. This does go to show you to enjoy what little time we have here. A little happiness and recognition goes along way, it seemed he had both in his life. Hope you enjoyed your time Heath. Thank you for entertaining us over the years.

A person can OD accidentally.

This is Gods revenge for him playing homosexual characters in gay movies - he did it twice - once is enough for God.

^Asshole
16. mike - January 22, 2008 6:14 PM
can't help but wonder if this is a really elaborate stunt for the viral marketing campaign, but seems to be the real deal. too bad.
17. Matt - January 22, 2008 6:19 PM
Cosima...your a piece of shit scum bag. I hope you die a horrible death and run into me in the afterlife.
18. Eugene - January 22, 2008 6:23 PM
Matt, he will only see you in the afterlife if he goes to hell because homosexuals have a 1 way ticket straight to hell automatically.
19. Paul - January 22, 2008 6:47 PM
Let's drop the gay comments. I don't agree with the lifestyle either, but let's let God judge all of that. I know most of these hollywood people are all screwed up. But I will really miss Heath's work.
20. Adam - January 22, 2008 6:49 PM
R.I.P Heath; you will not be forgotten.

24. Rick - January 22, 2008 7:13 PM
very tragic and unexpected. he was on top of his game.
25. kiroz - January 22, 2008 7:23 PM
I don't understand.
Heat wasn't gay at all!
26. Dorepoll - January 22, 2008 7:48 PM
I never picked him to be the unstable type. He was one of the few good Australian actors, so it's weird watching one of our own fall off. His acting started as mediocre to brilliant.
27. Buff Manley - January 22, 2008 8:03 PM
For a snarky national entertainment site, there sure are a bunch of homophobic assholes hanging around. The Free Republic and Bill O'Reilly have comment boards too, jerks. And if you're rolling with tongue-in-cheek bit, you're doing a terrible job.
28. Aerialgreen - January 22, 2008 8:11 PM
Cosima, you totally deserve what is coming to you despite your painful ignorance... it might not be right now, it might not be tomorrow but you are going to be hurt even if your comment was a joke.
29. AJ - January 22, 2008 8:48 PM
I agree with Matt on the homosexual comments and the bible study on the side. We have lost a good actor on his way to being great. I had a roommate that had to have her stomach pumped because she took a cold medicine and then something for heartburn and they were not supposed to be mixed. It could be that simple. R.I.P. Heath.....you will be missed.

@Cosima
Hey, I am fucking your God in the Butt. How doe you feel about that? And Jesus is tickling my balls with his tongue.

My condolences go out to his family and friends.
This is a sad loss. I was shocked when I heard it. Heath you will be greatly missed. I love his movies. He took risks and it was well played. He was such a great actor.
38. Andre - January 23, 2008 9:07 AM
Well, at least now he can sing all he wants on bleachers... in Heaven.
39. proteon - January 23, 2008 1:27 PM
Maybe snark isn't where it's at. Maybe you homophobes and racists should head over to ihatestuff.com - maybe in this end-of-days society were living in we should try to enjoy movies as an escape from teh fuckhole of a world me and your parents stuck you with and not carry our personal failures and shortcomings with us into the theater.
Seriously.
I love movies. I fucking LOVE movies. Most of you fuckers I just loathe because you are pretentious, stupid, full of adoration for your miserable selves and nothing else and you have no life experience; but I try not take it out on Judd Apatow.
Rest In Piece Heath Ledger and all ye fallen stars "we" couldn't care less about.
40. Carl - January 24, 2008 1:19 PM
Okay, I'll jump in.
Chris Nolan is really taking this viral campaign crap too far by having Heath killed.... but I did hear that Empire is going to reveal the autopsy photo online one panel at a time for the next two weeks.
41. Metal Gear Solid Movie - January 24, 2008 3:54 PM
I am deeply saddened by this. I loved him in the Patriot and A knight's tale, and I thought he was excellent in Brokeback Mountain. I just can't believe it. He is one of the best young actors around, and I am truly saddened for his daughter, not growing up without a father.
Rest in Peace Heath Ledger
