Jan 10 2008'AVH: Alien vs. Hunter' Trailer is No 'I Am Omega'
So we've seen how the forces of alien and man fare against a deadly Predator, but how will we defend against its similarly intentioned (and named)counterpart, Hunter? From the studio that brought you The Da Vinci Treasure, Snakes on a Train, and 30,000 Leagues Under the Sea (that's 10,000 leagues under its more popular rival!) comes Alien vs. Hunter (coming, oddly enough, straight to DVD). I'm not sure it will be on as many top ten lists as I Am Omega, but it looks at least on par with Transmorphers.
From the IMDB comes the sad realization of Death Blade: "I thought I was going to watch something like AvP." Weren't we all, Death Blade. Weren't we all.

I'm really confused.
Are we the Alient or the Hunter? At first, I saw the giant blue alien thing, and assumed that we were the Hunter. But then the preivew made it apparent that the blue thing had come to hunt, and WE were the prey, thus, making it impossible that we were the hunter.
So, are we the alien? Is this movie a commentary on how "alien" is a relative term, and that maybe humans have become something different than we were naturally intended to be?
Or is it saying that the blue thing is both Alient AND Hunter, and the title refers to an inner conflict of existentialsm?
Or is it saying "let's see how close we can get to "Alient v. Predator" without getting our asses sued...."

Now, don't be fooled. 20,000 leagues is a measure of length, not of depth. Fathoms measures depth. So, in fact, they traveled 10,000 leagues farther than the original, while their comparative depths remains unknown. To go 20,000 leagues beneath the surface of the sea would get you 60,000 miles down, well past through the other side.
As you can clearly see, this idea is the height of hilarity.

I thnk I figured it out.
After doing a little research, apparently there is "Hunter" character analagous to the Predator. The fact, however, that I saw the entire preview without realizing such a character existed is.... well... sad.

Dude. AVH is out in fine video rental locations nationwide. F this trailer madness. Go get the whole thing.

For a pathetic rip-off, AvH seems to mimic decent production values. The film doesn't look much worse than that 2006 direct-to-video woodland adventure starring Morgan Freeman and John Cusack.

Unspeakably Trivial Trivia Corner: The original script for Predator - and, obviously, the eponymous monster thing - was titled "Hunter".
Crap name.
