Dec 10 2007Watch First 10 Minutes of 'Walk Hard', or Don't
Unsure if Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story will be a hilarious laugh-em-up or just an obnoxious string of penis-euphemism-as-a-name jokes? Then either enjoy or despise this ten-minute preview, depending on how it pans out for you.
Personally, I'm going to avoid viewing the beginning until the theater. Sure, watching could give you a peek at things to come, and let you know if you really want to commit to two-hours of the same, but there's something not right about it. Like accidentally choosing a disgusting beer at the bar, or stupidly admitting you were available the day an acquaintance had to move, I feel starting to watch a bad movie is a mistake that should still be seen to its completion, however painful.
But do as you please, philistine.

Im guessing the kid cut in half is some less than funny joke related to the death of johnny cash's brother.
Two reasons to see this movie:
a) Jason Schwartzman, Paul Rudd, etc as the Beatles
b) Jenna Fischer, becuase shes hot
Looks pretty shit otherwise

It really falls flat, the school concert is kinda funny but we saw that months ago in the teaser trailer. And even the adults playing teens thing was spoofed years ago in that Howard Stern movie.

I saw last thurs. and was disappointed it has tons and I mean tons of shout outs to all the Apatow family but I rather wait for Pineapple express

I heard on the radio "It's a send off to rock biopics like walk the line and ray." So far I've only seen walk the line references, so isn't it just a send off to walk the line? I'm actually pretty curious.

The "Ray" references in the first 10 minutes anyway that I noticed were him learning the blues from the two old blues musicians, and then him going smell-blind.

I saw a pre-screening of it two weeks ago and it breaks down like this:
The layer of clever references to musician biopics are really overshadowed by their context in the movie. Shock value humor rather than running jokes, not my bag, more reminiscent of a Ricky Bobby than former Judd Apatow flicks. You'll likely be more occupied identifying the cameos than following the actual story, which is expected. The draw of the entire film is his encounter with the Beatles, almost worth the entire ticket price.
