Dec 21 2007'The Ruins' Trailer Has Teens/20-Somethings in Bizarre, Unlikely Horror Scenario!
Why is it that whenever a group of reckless, sexually-charged teens wander out alone somewhere--like mysterious woods, or an "ancient Mayan temple off the beaten path"--they end up fighting for their lives in a cheesy modern horror movie? The Ruins doesn't really address this question so much as reaffirm its validity, but at least it does so with symptoms of heroin use, sentient vines, and grotesque, unexplained sloshing.

Oh, suckky suckky, bride of suckky!
This looks awful and pointless.

I of course haven't seen the movie, but I can honestly say that the book of "The Ruins" was one of the more disturbing pieces of fiction I've read in a really long time. Like, it's the kind of book that makes you want to take a shower and hug your family after you're done with it. Judging by the trailer, the filmmakers haven't really done it's creepy-grossness justice; they've made it more "slasher-y," for lack of a better word.
Well, we'll see I guess.

This makes me nervous...I loved this book and stayed up all night to read it...I hope they dont ruin it, but it is looking that way

I thought the headline for this said "The Runs". I think now that might have been more accurate.

Blah. This was a disturbing, dark book...not my favorite, but certainly not bad. It looks like the movie will be yet another bad version of another good book, one filled with mediocre acting and lack of substance. Too bad that the mood of the book will be lost on useless actors and a bland script.

great description, you couldn't have summed up hollywood slasher cast better.
well i cant believe the grp of kids gave up hanging out at the clubhouse or beach, wherever they were just to find some ancient temple in the middle of a scruffy forest.

I saw this movie! It's still in post production when i got the invite to watch it but i read the book as well and of course the book is better but the film adaptation of it and it is really good too. Reminds me of that feeling when I watched the Descent.
