As someone obsessed as a child, and who's recently been playing an embarrassing amount of Street Fighter II at a local bar, I can tell you with certainty that Smallville star Kristin Kreuk is not Chun-Li. Or shouldn't be, at least, despite news of her winning the role in Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li. Sure, she's a cutie, and appears to be at least partially of Asian descent, but that doesn't mean she's right to put on the spiked bracelets and pantyhose of my beloved Spinning-Bird Kicker. I have no real case against her; she's just not right. Better than Lucy Liu, I suppose, but not right.

That's a damn disgrace. Is it so hard to cast a fully-asian actress, or would doing so not be considered as marketable to an american audience.

There are dozens of hot Asian actresses who can also do martial arts. Some even speak English, but I think it would be cool if she didn't. Maggie Q, Zhang ZiYi, just to name a few.

If the fact the that she looks exactly like her (at least in the image above) isn't enough, I'm not sure what standards we should be using to cast this masterpiece. Apparently some sort of politically correct flow chart that sacrifices accuracy for people's feelings.

I agree, she is no Chun-Li. Besides the less-than-Chinese aspect, she is just too short. Chun-Li uses her legs like egg beaters. Kristin Kruek is ~5'3...she couldn't even reach Sagat's balls with her legs, let alone his head!

dude... Grace Park. Battlestar Galactica - robot woman who kicks ass. mostly... just do a google image search for her Maxim shoot. She does have thighs (although, not quite as massive as Chun-li.. you'd have to look into the world of pro wrestling for that) Kristin is gorgeous... but not the right choice.

First of all, as far as Kristin Kreuk not having the thighs for the role, apparently you sh*t talkers aren't familiar with actors and actresses preparing for a role with training and exercise. You think Charlie Sheen was buffed up before filming Hot Shots part Deux? NO!! He had to train and prepare for the role, and Kristin will do the same.
Secondly, I'm sick and tired of racist people claiming that someone of mixed racial heritage isn't part of either of the two races. Kristin Kreuk's mother is Chinese, so Kristin Kreuk is Chinese. Her father is Dutch, so she is Dutch. That's like when people tell me that I'm not black because only my mother is black, or that I can't claim Scottish ancestry even though my father is from Scotland. I hate racist bastards!!
Kristin Kreuk is the right race, the right actress, the right talent for the role of Chun - Li. PERIOD!!!

i think she is perfect for the role... like MB CLONE said: that it takes time for her to develop some thighs n all dat... what ii do hope is that the other characters are better for the next movie.. they better have a bomb ass 5 star person for RYU and KEN..n da rest of the ppl who are gonna be inda next movie
