Dec 17 2007Emmy Rossum Joins 'Dragonball', and Apparently 'Dragonball' Involves Actual Dragon Balls
Recognizing that a live-action version of the Dragonball anime--best known as the subject of shiny, oversized button-up shirts for fat guys--might not have much appeal outside of said fat guys, producers have added the doe-eyed, girl-next-door attractiveness of Emmy Rossum to the bill. Maybe that will bring in the sad sacks so desperate to see a good-looking girl that they'll endure two-hours of brightly-colored, nonsensical fighting, right?
According to Variety, "Rossum takes on the role of Bulma, whose father's Dragon Ball is stolen by Piccolo." I have no idea what a Dragon Ball could be (outside of a the obvious: a dragon's testicle), why this Piccolo character would desire to possess one, or why her name sounds like something in or around the vagina. A Dragon Ball is a mystical sphere from the planet Namek (Piccolo's home planet). Collect all the Dragon Balls and you can summon the great Dragon, who will grant you one wish. Classic stuff, classic stuff.

Alright so I used to watch this show. I admit it.
#1, I dont think thats _quite_ true. Bulma's name actually meant women's underwear, hence the name of her son, Trunk's.

This is a mistake! No, as much as I don't mind this actress, she's not going to do the part justice at all! This whole live action dragonball thing is going to be a disaster. Hollywood, just leave anime alone, don't mess around with it, they'll totally ruin it.

Bulma is the broken down version of the romaji "Bu-ru-ma" or "Bloomer" (as in the underwear). That's why her son is Trunks. Japan loves themed names (Sailor Moon, Rayearth, Sorcerer Hunters). Crazy folks.

Dragonball is infinitely superior to Dragonball Z in every way, and I'm glad it looks like this movie will be based on the former. DB is a fun, silly kid show, and DBZ is a testosterone-soaked fight fest full of constipated faces and sounds.

some one says the dragon balls are from namek birtplanet of piccolo.... its a mystake... piccolo is the dark part of kamisama (earth god) and the dragon ball in this history has created by him in earth, ...

Grrr...in my mind Goku and Piccolo are BFFs (I mean, they only fought against each other for the first 60-70 episodes before joining forces), so it'll be a bit weird seeing them as enemies.
And by the sounds of it, the story takes place before Vegeta's appearance, which is a shame because Vegeta's my favourite character by far.

I totally agree i think hollywood should leave anime alone,but if they want to touch the bad ones like dbz be my guest but i do love the people their putting in the movie. Hopefully its better than the anime. And yes i have seen it so i now what im talkin about. All i know is that Hollywood better not thouch the BEST anime ever, COWBOY BEBOP if they do i will HURT them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
