Nov 30 2007'Watchmen' Set-to-Comic Comparisons
Leave it to the clever folk at Maxim magazine to think of comparing the recently released Watchmen set pictures with corresponding images from the comic, revealing the startlingly attention to detail Zack Snyder has given to every subtle element. Next thing you know, those Maxim boys are going to deduce the 9 hottest pregnant women ever, or something funny about beer.
Besides the diner looking like something out of The Majestic, I really like what they're doing here. See the other comparisons under the cut, or just wait for your douchebag roommate to leave the issue in your bathroom. Thanks for the tip, Barry.

I've always wondered why most remakes, superhero comic adaptations, cartoon adaptations, book adaptations, etc. are totally raped by Hollywood so that the director/writer/whoever can add his or her own "artistic touch," but for some reason comics by guys like Frank Miller and whoever-did-the-Watchmen are recreated frame by frame... Although to be fair, they clearly redesigned that Gungan Diner. Meesa liken dem bombin gonzo colors.

For all those who want the movie to be an exact replica of the book, buy the book, read it, and shut up. The truer to the comic book the film is, the better. I said "true," not "replicates." The diner frame, for example, has a terribly plain diner front. Hollywood has applied some warranted "artistic freedom." That's fantastic.
The only thing that has displeased me is that Rorschach's mask is not latex in the film like it is in the comic book. This is probably for practical reasons, but I would have liked to see Hollywood explain that one. =)
I'm giddy like a little school girl!
