Nov 28 2007Seth Rogens Speaks About 'Green Hornet'
Seth Rogen spoke to MTV about his Green Hornet project, elaborating that he's still deciding on whether to go a more action or comedic route, that he has eyes on Steven Chow or Tony Jaa to star as Kato, and that he'll try to get more in shape for the lead role. He added:
Just a few weeks ago, [co-writer Evan Goldberg and I] laid out our outline for the movie to the studio, and before the phone call, Evan and I were like, 'This is not like any superhero movie — they might just hate that. It's not using any of the normal superhero movie formats. It's not an origin story. It's more like a regular action movie.' [But] they really liked it and told us to go for it.
To those upset that a chubby guy will be making a comedic version of their beloved costumed crimefighter, at least be grateful it's someone talented, like Seth Rogen, instead of, say, Kevin James. I'm sure the King of Queens would love to draw the manservant relationship between Green Hornet and Kato into an extended, over-the-top gay joke, rather than the subtly implicit gay joke it already is.

Tony Jaa is awesome. That'd be pretty damn cool if they went with him.

you know leave it to this clown to butcher the green hornet,
the combination of people that are involved in this project is the perfect
recipe for disaster. It's obvious where they're going with this by the people that are suppose to be in it. It's going to be a over the top martial arts with a lot strings and seth rogen as the "comic" relief, if thats what you call what he does. There are amature film makers, one comes to mind Aurelien Poitrimount, who have made short films that capture the green hornet to a level that Fans would love, and add a bit of DARK comedy as well.
In conclusion the whole purpose of making a film is for the FANS. I hope this project will be dropped and someone with more Green hornet fan loyalty picks it up .

Seth Rogen is a fat, ugly, slob. Why should he workout, get lifts and plastic surgery when there are plenty of leading men and action stars in Hollywood? This is a disgrace to the Green Hornet.

They are right on the money to play Kato. But as far as the Green Hornet, I rather see Clive Owen, Jason Statham, Eric Bana, Val Kilmer, or George Cooney. These guys know how to get in shape, when it comes to these type of movies. They can bring the movie up another level, like Robert Downey did for Iron Man.

The whole point of _Green Hornet_ to me is that it's the dopey white guy getting into trouble and he has Bruce Lee bailing him out all the time.
Think Jack Burton in _Big Trouble in Little China_.
I can't imagine any other possible take with Rogen as GH.

There r certain TV shows that should not be made into movies and the Green Hornet is one of them.It will be like The Dukes Of Hazzard movie what a flop.Is it a wonder why people want to see the old TV shows then the crap that Hollywood is trying to repop and hoping it's going to be a hit.PLEASE,PLEASE let the original Green Hornet live on and don't destroy it with a remake of it.
