Nov 21 2007See/Hear Johnny Depp Sing in 'Sweeney Todd'!
Up until now, all of the previews we've seen of Sweeney Todd have been strangely devoid of both song samplings (considering it's a musical) and Johnny Depp dressed like Red Skelton (considering that wouldn't make sense). This new clip solves both of those issues.
Enjoy the song and hobo attire, under the cut.

Is it just me, or is Johnny D starting to look like Christopher Walken?

I have now heard a few audio clips of Johnny and Helena singing. Sorry. They sound like two cats in a bag. Awful.

Not awesome..but the cast of Todd are not supposed to be super singers :p Suits his character I think, the way he's doing it.

What????
The cast of Todd are supposed to be incredible singers. That music is tough with unexpected interevals and timing changes. Len Cariou, from the Broadway soundtrack, has a rich, full, menacing voice.
I think Depp is okay as an actor but either my memory is way off or they've dumbed down the range a bit. He doesn't sound terribly threatening to me.
I haven't heard HBC sing yet but "cat in a bag" sounds about like I'd imagine.

Tim Burton will never do any better than "Ed Wood". He's had ten years to raise the bar and has failed every time. Johnny is great, but his singing has not improved since "Cry Baby". They'll get my ten bucks anyway.

Ah. Johnny Depp didn't actually sing in Cry Baby. Someone else dubbed his singing voice. One of those movies that always seemed to be on tv when I was a kid.

i loved it. i think the fact that they are not professional singers they did amazingly. and Johnny Depp had such good facial features during his song. i thought it was one of his best films.
