Nov 2 2007Pixar Enters Second-Dimension with 'Your Friend the Rat'

For Pixar's first foray into the world of 2-D animation, the 11-minute Your Friend the Rat included on the Ratatouille DVD, they appear to be exploring the three worst epidemics of the New York subway system: homeless gangs, rats, and feminists.

The first two are pretty widely acknowledged as a burden, or at least a good reason to switch cars, but I'm glad someone is finally recognizing the trouble with mass transit feminists. If they're going to get so vocal when you strategically graze their chest with your upper arm, what's a Metrocard even good for?

Two more under the cut.

I like it but couldn't they have done a more original visual style? This blatantly imitates the style of the UPA animation studio of the 1950's. Disney already ripped off UPA once by copying their animation style at the time!

If you like this, make sure to check out UPA's work, especially "gerald mc boing boing," "rooty toot toot," and the excellent but more serious "tell-tale heart."

for a while they were running the game in chid movies! they are trying to come back!
