Hey, have UHURA'D the news of who Zoe Saldana is playing in Star Trek prequel?!

Do you see what I did there? I gave you a little clue in the first sentence. You probably missed it because it was so cleverly and seamlessly worked in, but look again and you'll see that she's playing Uhura, which you may have also guessed because that's the only role possible for a black female.

If you saw Pirates of the Caribbean, you know the actress as Anamaria, or if you saw the Britney Spears buddy-flick, Crossroads, you know her as Kit (but really, what were you thinking?). Saldana joins Zachary Quinto as Spock and Anton Yelchin as Chekhov, and you can see her soft-focus close-up debut Christmas 2008.

whats with the fishing line comin out of her mouth

Flossing accident?

LOL

I can't believe you didn't mention her starring turn in Center Stage as Sassy Ethnic Minority Who Has To Humble Herself In Order To Find Her Inner Prima Ballerina.

Honestly, and you call this a movie site??

actually, she's Dominican not black.

She was in the Terminal as a Trekkie girl, too. Man the storied career. First a trekkie and then a star trekker.

I worked on the that movie and I didn't remember her in it!

Is it some sort of brace/retainer?

#5

Where do black people come from then, Blackland?

#8....again, she is not black, she is dominican. So in turn that would make her of a latin decent. Not african.

Such as african decent such as.

Well, I'm Haitian and live next door so I can tell that she is of African descent because coloured Dominicans and coloured latinos in general have African blood. Although they'd rather go to their Indian inheritance instead - black being a lil bit of a bad thing. The only problem being the conquistadores had "off" all indians of the island in their hunt for gold.

Bottom line: she's both latina and black and she's gorgeous.

#10, live next door to what? Her? rigggghhhht.

Dominican is the same as black. It seems no one wants to identify as black these days, it's more shiek to say your something else, but when get down to the heart of it, she's black. B-L-A-C-K! If she was walking down the street and we didn't know her from Adam she would be (yes you guessed it) Black!

I know that she is from the Dominican Republic but they are all Black, every last one of them. Even Puerto Ricans, even though most don't self identify as black.

If I did a case study I bet that most individuals that are black that try to enter the Entertainment Industry would put another race as what they identify with rather than just saying Black.
