Sep 5 2007R-Rated Beowulf Trailer
There's a new R-rated trailer to Robert Zemeckis's all-CGI epic, Beowulf, so you can add some much-needed computer-generated blood and breasts to your day. Watching this latest trailer, I think I can safely say that when Zemeckis promised to deliver a photo-realistic CGI world, he meant it. Assuming, that is, that the photos being referred to were photos of old video game cut-scenes.
PS: If you're having a hard time remembering that the main character's name is Beowulf, don't worry. He'll forcefully remind you a few times throughout the trailer.

Wow. Zemeckis needs less time online and more time with real living people. Anyone who thinks an audience would rather see a nekkid CGI Angelina Jolie over the real thing has been spankin' themselves over too many MMORPG elves.

WOW this movie looks like crap. "I. Am. Beowulf." It just sounds like some kid going through puberty shouting that.
Yeah, a naked, cartoonish Angelina does nothing for me. I guess Zemeckis is going for the videogame cutscene crowd ... whoever the hell they may be.

I dont usually leave comments on this stuff but i have to say, that looks horrible. It looks like a bad intro to a bad video game. WEAK SAUCE! (and im the biggest Back to the Future geek there is). C'mon Robert, get your head out of your ass.

I agree, this doesn't make me want to see it. I don't get the whole CGI people thing here. Yeah, it's cheaper and you can do things with them that you couldn't do with real people, but it looks bad.
And who are the freaks getting excited about a naked CGI Angelina Jolie? I'll skip this one.

The main "actor" (beowulf) looks like a damn cartoon. This movie is gonna be a joke. You'd be better of reading the poem while looking at pictures of angelina jolies tits or if you're like me skip the poem and go right to the tits.

Well if Neil Gaiman is involved (as the end credits suggest), this may yet turn out to be better than the disappointment the trailer offers.
Still, though, Sheriff Woddy meets the Mummy.. I dunno..

I think this looks fucking badass.
I like the CGI it looks nearly photorealistic but it still has some a fantasy feel to it.
I'm looking forward to it.

Beowulf is a great story to do a movie on, too bad he blew it with the 100% cheap CGI. you know at some point he had 2 charts, one with the good company that was pricey and then the ones who did mortal combat for nintendo 64. He looked at them hard then held the winner up and said, get them on the phone....I think we have a winner.
years from now people will be like, what ever happened to that guy who did Beowulf. BET

One word to Zemeckis: "Avatar".
Something tells me James Cameron's film will make Zemeckis give up CGI movies for good and direct "Forrest Gump II".

Has anyone noticed how much the people in the film look like figures from Shrek just with the surroundings made dark? I guess after having spent gazillions of Dollars they are a little scared and have to push Angelina as a girl straight out of Goldfinger. As endowed as she looks, I prefer running the Gia VHS again at home over this crap. Very very sad and as mentioned before: way too many concessions to the video game boys out there.

I just think its interesting that Grendel's mother has to be sexualized because Angelina Jolie is playing her. Isn't it funny how she can never NOT play sexy?
