Sep 10 2007John Rambo Trailer is Terrifying
This trailer for John Rambo, the fourth strained effort in the Rambo series, doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it would. At the same time, I think they've really limited the audience by assuming young audiences are still familiar with the character. Imagine for a moment that you have no idea who John Rambo, then watch the above footage of a bulky, aging, mulleted man grunting and murdering every human he sees. As what appears to be an Asian nation's military tries to stop this savage menace, the man proceeds to dispense with their entire forces in the most gruesome, violent way imaginable. If, at this moment, you've never heard of Rambo, the most logical conclusion you can draw is that John Rambo is the story of a civilization being destroyed by a psychotic old madman. Sadly, I think I'd prefer that movie.

This is going to one of the best movies of your lifetime. It would have been so easy to turn Rambo into some PG-13 mess made to appeal to widest audience, but instead they kept Rambo true to his homocidal rage.

Ironically enough I'm pretty unfamiliar with Rambo's many successful films - aside from the name and one or two minor details I know pretty much nothing - and a psychotic old madman trying to destroy civilization is EXACTLY what this looks like to me.
I have enough xenophobia in my life. Pass.

Looks good, can't wait to see the entire movie. If John Rambo hates asians why is always protecting them in his movies. It is a movie, get over it folks. I guess when some people are to busy hugging trees or kissing dolphins then they tend to be serious all the time.

I think John Rambo's doing hostage rescue mission. He's not just randomly killing Asians, he's killing them with PURPOSE.

The movie is set in Burma, not South America, or "some Asian country." He's not just randomly destroying a civilization, the plot is that he's been living in Bangkok peacefully for years, when a group of human rights missionaries want to hire his boat to travel to Burma. He turns them down, they get captured by generic evil Burmese army general, and John gets hired to go save them. Rambo witnesses multiple atrocities while leading a small team of mercenaries on the rescue mission and decides to go completely Rambo on Generic-Evil-General's ass. Hilarity ensues.
