Sep 11 2007Japanese Furious Over Simpsons Voices, Lack of Tentacle Rape

Thanks to Louie for pointing out that Japanese Simpsons nerds are in an uproar about the film's pending release in their country. Fox Japan plans to replace the current Japanese voice-acting cast with more popular television personalities in the hopes of making the film more popular, since most of Japan knows The Simpsons cast primarily as a family of lemonade drinking nudists (see above).

Fans have momentarily paused their incessant quoting to start a petition to stop the change here, because, as one nerdy fanboy said, "Shouldn't our voices change before theirs do?"

Original Japanese Voice Actors Replaced [Japan Probe]

I think would enjoy the simpsons more if they were naked and drinking lemonade in Japanese voices.

#1 - That goes for most things in life.

WAHHHH!?!?!??!?

That's actually pretty big. Can you imagine the Simpsons suddenly swapping out all the voice talent we're used to? That would completely suck. The Japanese voice actors have been doing their job on that show for years, and the Simpsons are relatively popular over there for a US export. That movie will bomb big time if they switch out the voice actors.

Why are Bart's and Marge's voices practically identical?

#4: Totally agree. There would be no accepting a replacement for Homer's voice. And the shows success is directly related to the voice actors, they developed those characters.

Honestly, at some point, I AM expecting this to happen in the US too. Who knows when Fox will want to kill the show, but it will likely be after most of the others want to leave. Cartoon characters don't age and I really think a whole new group of people would (unfortunately) get to know the show with the new actors and never really care about it. Kind of like how many newer fans of the show don't care for the earlier seasons.

i've liked the simpsons since i was 7, it would be really hard to imagine it with all different voices
matt groening do not change a thing! please!!
