Aug 17 2007The Dark Knight Production Photos
A ton of new production photos from The Dark Knight have been leaked and they look pretty exciting. You can view them all after the jump, but some might contain spoilers so be warned. And I don't want to ruin anything for you, but I have it on pretty good authority that The Joker makes an appearance in this one. Yeah, I've got friends in some pretty high places.
EDIT: Got a notice from Warner Bros. to take the pictures. This gets a frowny face. =(

meh
2. coco arquette - August 17, 2007 5:35 PM
so the first pic confirms that batman is either a homo or he mistakenly thought the joker was anna nicole smith

these might be some of the most random movie stills ever. very odd framing and composition.
Still excited as all get out to see this, but the stills really haven't made me anymore 'amped'
Excuse me, I have to go punch myself in the balls for using the term 'amped' now.

Swweeettt!!! That movie is going to rock ass. At least I hope. I wonder why the Joker's makeup is constantly running. And who's the chick in pic 14
7. Matt - August 17, 2007 6:43 PM
Is that supposed to be the Batcave? It looks like a bunker. No style whatsoever.
8. Matt - August 17, 2007 6:46 PM
Oh, and what's with the suit? In the fifth pic down he looks like freakin' Bibleman! Are nipples too far off at this point?
9. Sharpless - August 17, 2007 9:52 PM
The woman is Rachel Dawes (now played by Maggie Gyllenhall) and the batsuit has been redesigned for more flexibility. For example, the head can now turn, because the mask is no longer a part of the whole cowl piece.

Looks like ASS, and will probably suck as bad as Batman Begins. Realistic Batman=teh suck.

I'm really not diggin' the Joker's runny make-up at this point. And what the hell happened to the deep scars on his cheeks shown on the first Joker pic??? that's what made it cool. Now all i see is a blemish. Other than that, it looks pretty cool. I agree though, why does the batcave need so much lighting? ummm, bats are nocturnal, hello
12. John Raide - August 18, 2007 5:14 AM
Gotham loves Batman, and he's in tight with the D.A. and Lieutenant Gordon. It's not that hard of a stretch to think that The Joker would have been caught fairly early on in the film, and Batsy was given some "face time" with him to find out more information about something. I highly doubt Batman would drag The Joker to The Bat Cave.

AmI the only one thinking "There are two Batmans, uh, Batmen, uh Batsmen'?
14. Meg - August 18, 2007 10:43 AM
Ok well the scenes everyone assumed were of the bat cave could be of Wayne enterprises, just a thought. yeah there does seem to be multiple batmen hehe in some pics. looks bad ass though and I am so glad stupid I can't act myself out of a paper bag katie holmes is gone. should be awesome.
15. Bruce - August 18, 2007 11:44 AM
Open wheel bike and cape's ?????
thats an accident waiting to happen!!!
not a good example for the kiddies out there
16. practicecactus - August 18, 2007 12:43 PM
Looks like the first suit is still in the movie and he then upgrades.
Not digging it at all. Looks pretty lame. The characters are nothing like their original looks and it's not gonna be anywhere near as good as the first. It's already going downhill like the original movies did.
17. proteon - August 18, 2007 1:34 PM
I agree about the jokers makeup and lack of hideous scar. However Christian Bale is mighty solid - i've yet to see him suck in anything.
18. Rick - August 18, 2007 2:25 PM
Also, i think the new suit's thin neck is less intimidating then the previous one. Now, even the cape isn't used like Batman's suppose to. Batman always covers his shoulder w/ the cape and now w/ the new suit, Nolan feels the need to show off his new sholder pads in every pic. So stupid. So the thick, aggressive neck is gone and so is the dark, wide cape. We'll see how this turns out.

Looks like we're getting a throwback to Dark Knight Returns with all the bat-men.
20. The Bat - August 18, 2007 11:59 PM
Gotta believe since the last movie left off with Bruce Wayne and Alfred left to rebuild Wayne Manor from scratch that "The Bat Cave" is still under construction, which would require lighting.
Remember folks, this is the very beginning of Batman. Everything we have gotten used to from the comic book and previous films has yet to happen. reacting harshly to this incarnation of the batsuit is silly because we know the costume changed over time. Once again, he's experimenting and getting to learn how to be Batman.
What concerns me is The Joker, according to his origin was supposed to be bleached from head to toe after falling intoa vat of chemicals. Heath Ledger appears to have only a white face, a face that seems more like smeared on clown make up than chemical disfigurement at that.
I understand that every film tries to go its own way, but part of the reason why The Joker is so insane is because he was a vain guy who was totally disfigured. This is his motivation for hating Batman in the first place.
However, since the first movie was so outstanding, I will avoid rabble rousing until I see the answers to all the questions we all have regarding what we've seen. Remember also, that these shots may not even make the film.

I would've thought this site was beyond firsters.
Anywho, as a Chicagoan, I have to add it's nifty to see their trailers and whatnot out and about on lower Wacker and such. If I fail to see Christian Bale before they're finished here, I'd be a very sad girl indeed.
22. Daze - August 19, 2007 7:28 AM
That shot is not the bat cave - It's the Joker's control centre.
23. John Raide - August 19, 2007 8:54 AM
I totally missed that picture of the "control centre", and now I feel like a douchebag.
24. Rick - August 19, 2007 12:06 PM
LOL
25. Juan Bena - August 19, 2007 12:25 PM
Am I the only one who thinks Heath's eyes are too chinky??? I thought the Joker has wide psychotic eyes
26. Ed - August 19, 2007 2:08 PM
Like #20, I'm kind of concerned about Heath's make-up. However, that could just be a non-film shot, like after a scene or during a break when he's dicking around.
Who knows? Maybe in Nolan's version he's a mid level thug that actually wears face-paint, until he falls in the chemical vat and the paint permanently colors his skin. I have faith in Nolan, so I will hold off judgment.
27. kintar0 - August 19, 2007 5:23 PM
That's not the Batcave, nor Joker's control center. It's the basement of Wayne Enterprises. You know, like in the first crap movie, where Morgan Freeman worked? Where he kept all the gear and gadgets BB's Batman wasn't smart enough to design or develop himself? Obviously, the new Wayne Manor/Batcave is under construction and Dark Knight takes place soon after BB. And where were there mulitiple "Batmen" in The Dark Knight Returns?
28. whatever - August 19, 2007 8:22 PM
I think the multiple batmen are probably created by the Joker so that the public will start to have a negative view of Batman. Also note that in some shots he's wearing the old suit from Begins and in others he's wearing the newer suit.
29. simpatico - August 19, 2007 8:36 PM
I'm agreeing with kintaro, that is the basement of Wayne's company. The Batmen are stunt men hiding from the fans with cameras outside of the garage.
As to The Dark Knight returns, I think those were the "Sons of the Bat"
I say give this movie a chance, these pics remind me of some of The Killing Joke & TDK not Schumacher- that is a good thing.
30. ELF Radio - August 19, 2007 9:18 PM
I'm actually digging the idea of the Joker just wearing makeup, as opposed to being permanently dyed. The hideous mouth scars are enough to make him a freak when he's not on stage....
...plus, do you know who else just put on makeup? The freakin' CROW, that's who.
^__^
31. kintar0 - August 19, 2007 9:25 PM
Exactly, they were the Sons of Batman, ex-Mutants, not "batmen."
32. MrGutts - August 20, 2007 8:03 AM
Nice pics.
Batman/ W.E. using Dell servers now? Great marketing Dell!
33. carl_spackler - August 20, 2007 8:44 AM
So, Heath gets to "assault" Jake Gyllenhall in one movie and then gets to abuse his sister Maggie in another? Hopefully there will be another tent scene.
34. LeonIncognito - August 20, 2007 1:40 PM
Kintaro, I'm not referring to the "Sons of the Bat."
Remeber the ex-boxer who could no longer smell, and then became a collector for a mob boss? Well, after hearing of Batman's return, he decided (on his own) to mimic Batman and don a Bat suit and tried to shoot his mob boss with a gun (which he failed to do, and was shot himself).
35. p0nk - August 21, 2007 2:22 PM
#2 either ANS or Nick Nolte, i can't decide.
36. MrGutts - August 22, 2007 2:41 PM
To any of the WB spys on here trolling or any bastard that cried to WB. This is a personal fuck off, you pricks or bitches which ever it may be.
37. Rick - August 23, 2007 10:21 PM
From a site:
* Bruce will start out the movie with the BEGINS suit but he will eventually have a need to create the new one seen in the released photos.
* Part of the process to make the new suit will be dipping it in liquid titanium.
"The most interesting part was about where Bruce will live. [My friend] asked if The Batcave will make an appearance in this movie. The rep said no, since Wayne Manor burned down and he is living in the penthouse downtown. But she did say that Bruce will be storing his arsenal of weapons, cars, and suits in a parking garage. The Batman equipment is on a giant elevator (kinda like the ones on air craft carriers) that will raise out of the floor when needed and lower below to stay hidden when not [in use]. "
-WTF??? i don't like this
